Still NOT being Treated.1 year later

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with GI docs – it took me a while to find GI that listens to me and works with me to address all my issues. If you are in pain – go to ER. Look up doctor directory on this web site for GI in your area, seek out your local CCFA - google Crohn's & Colitis...

    Confused and needing adivce

There are many meds that can help you with pain, heal and treat fistulas and abscess. Do you have a GI that you work with? What is your treatment plan - what meds are you on? Have you had a colonoscopy, blood work, etc. to confirm that you indeed have Crohn’s? Abscess is a serous external...

    Colonoscopy and risks??

I agree with 2thfairy – I feel better after colonoscopy! I actually like the way I feel after the prep – light and empty. Doing a liquid diet few days prior is a good idea. Keep paper towels handy and do not be afraid of colonoscopy – in my opinion (I have been on antibiotics for long periods of...

Undiagnosed, but suspected Crohn's with C Diff

I had c diff 2 times. Flagyl helped the first time but c diff came back after one month. Second time I was again on Flagyl and also used a probiotic called Natren's Healthy Trinity. I belive taking this probiotic is what helped me with c diff. Now, I take a probiotic everyday and also eat a SCD...

Guess I'm joining the fistula club

Yes, seton placement is out-patient procedure, not a big deal at all, for me it was a very little discomfort and kept my abscess draining well. The goal is to keep it draining so the outside opening stays open and not closes and traps all that infected stuff inside. With Crohn’s, it may mean...

How to deal with smell of setons?

I use hand held shower after BM at home and keep gauze between my cheeks and change them few times per day. Also, Calmoseptine lotion works great to keep that area dry.

Help Please! Possible Fistula. What Questions and Tests should I ask GI about?

I know what you mean with GI docs! It took me a long time to find GI that actually listens and cares. I am glad you feel better with flagyl - The fact that it made you feel better tells me you may have had an infection. It is very strong and it worked for me also but it made me nauseous.

Help Please! Possible Fistula. What Questions and Tests should I ask GI about?

Diverticulitis is NOT nothing!. When a diverticulum (small outpouchings (sacs) that push out from the walls of the colon ) ruptures, bacteria (always present in the colon) can spread into the tissues surrounding the colon and cause infection and inflammation. This is called diverticulitis. I...

Help Please! Possible Fistula. What Questions and Tests should I ask GI about?

Are you having blood in urine or stool? I am not sure about urinary fistula diagnoses, but the fact that urgent care is sending you to GI, tells me that it maybe intestine/anal fistula. Here are some ways that anal fistula is diagnosed. Physical examination The specialist will examine your anus...

Scared of having a seton put in..

Seton placement is not bad at all, its not realy a surgery, it's just a rubber band that will be placed from anal opening to external fistula opening, there is no cutting or stitching, etc. It’s a little uncomfortable, but there is no pain at all. Some people have had fistula closure after...

    Disability good idea or not?

I am on disability because of Crohn’s complications. It is not an easy process, but if your doctors support you and you can document your disability for at least a year, it’s possible. It took me 1 ½ years and I was not able to work at all – not few months here and there. First, I was on short...

Injecting with pen, to pinch or not to pinch?

Not only do I pinch the skin on my belly, I also ice the spot prior to the shot (and after the shot) while the pen is warming up from the fridge for about 5 – 10 min. I find that I do not swell or itch that much with icing.

Bloating and Weight Gain on Humira??

Yes, I gained weight on Humira - my doc tells me it’s because my inflammation is down and I started to absorb all the nutrients from food.

Does anyone else get joint pain as a symptom?

Yes, I have low back/hips pain, it is one of the many "lovely" gifts that some may have with Crohn's. Being on Humira has helped me some, I also use heat pad and pain meds on bad days.

My trip to the MAYO clinic in Jacksonville, FL

Sorry to hear that after all that hotel mess, you still have no diagnosis! I had a good experience at Cleveland clinic in Cleveland. I would recommend going there for hard to diagnose or complicated GI issues. WOW! 2 hours of vigorous exercise! Good for you! :thumleft: I wish I could do ½ of...

    Pain Killers

I was not advocating running to ER as your ongoing everyday pain management option Arial, you do need to find a doctor who understands you, in my case it’s my GI and NOT my family doc. I agree with Kyle - pain management specialist is another option. BTW: I am always able to receive IV pain...
