    Please don't let me flare!

So throughout my pregnancy I have been absolutely 100% in remission. Well, 3 weeks ago I was told I have gestational diabetes. So have had to change my diet pretty dramatically. All the soft fruit I normally eat (eg bananas) has had to be replaced by crunchier, higher fibre fruit to avoid my...

    Back pain and Crohns?

I get lower back pain when I have diarrhoea. But once I go to the toilet, the pain lessens (until the next time...)

    Just Diagnosed

Personally, I would consider 25mg to be smaller than average. I started on IV steroids, then onto 30mg of prednisolone, with instructions to drop 5mg a week. When I went on holiday just after diagnosis, I took emergency steroids with me with instructions to take 40mg initially. I gained weight...

Can you have IBD and not arthritis or RH?

Yes- I have Crohn's and no arthritis! They often occur together, but not always, else they'd be the same disease!

    Knee pain.....etc

Maybe you have something else going on like arthritis? As it's fairly common for Crohn's patients to get rheumatoid arthritis. Other than that, could it be a medication side effect? Or a vitamin deficiency of some sort? (just throwing ideas out there!)

    Stomach flu- now non-stop diarrhea

It could just be that you're taking a long time to return to normal. I have only had one stomach bug since being diagnosed. It was only a 24 hour bug, so nowhere near as bad as the one you had (caught it off one of the kids at work, so guessing it was rotavirus which adults don't usually get...

    WaterSure?

Yeah, I fully agree with the penalising for not claiming benefits thing. Even when I had to drop hours at work and go part time because of being too fatigued, I didn't qualify for ANYTHING as I was well enough to work sometimes. whereas it seems once you qualify for one benefit you get more...

    WaterSure?

£41 a month?! That sounds flipping expensive- we have a meter and pay maybe £100 per 6 months- much closer to the £15 a month you're used to paying. How have they estimated your usage? And what water company will it be with, Severn Trent?

    First timer

If you are worried about absorption of vitamins, I would ask your doctor to run a complete checkup on you to see if you are deficient in anything. This is more of a concern if it is small bowel disease you had as that is where nutrients are absorbed. With large bowel disease, dehydration is the...

    First timer

Congratulations! How far along are you? Is there anything in particular you want to know? I am also pregnant with my first. I have been following as healthy a diet as I can with my Crohn's (and have found that I can eat more fibre etc while pregnant :)), I take folic acid (5mg for first 13...

    Help! :-(

IBD does sound like a possibility with your symptoms. However, your symptoms also sound like they could be a complication of your celiac disease. For example, there is a possibility that you are still eating tiny amounts of gluten through cross contamination of foods in the factory, or through...

    Sore throats/heart burn

Sounds like acid reflux. Have you tried any antacid meds? Or keeping a food diary to identify the triggers? Because I get bad reflux and my doc won't do an endoscopy unless it gets bad enough that my usual meds don't work. (but then I am in the UK)

    Please Help- Son has Crohns

Is he taking any prescription medication/treatment at all? Sounds like the natural approach isn't working. And he needs treatment sooner rather than later, the longer his inflammation is allowed to go unchecked the more scarring will happen in his intestines- and that can get nasty. I...

    Undiagnosed Club Support Group

Cat- I know this sounds gross, but maybe you should dissect a pill or two out your poo! I'm not familiar with Asacol tablets, but basically you need to look and see if it's an entire tablet, or just the shell, or maybe the tablet's smaller than when it went in, meaning some got absorbed? Also...

    Newly Diagnosed

You sound like me in the run up to my diagnosis. I was sick just about every evening regardless of what I ate. First the stomach pains would start, then the vomiting. Fortunately, I stopped vomiting after I was hospitalised and put on steroids. What meds have you been put on? And how long have...

    Had better days

I would give rehydration fluids a go- you can buy sachets from the chemist or make it yourself using salt and sugar (there's a recipe on the diarrhoea wiki page). The dizzy spells could be mild dehydration or low blood pressure caused by losing too much salt.

    Had better days

Sorry to hear you're not well! Are you drinking Dioralyte or something similar to help replace lost salts? Hope you feel better soon- I remember the last time I had a stomach bug although the bug itself was a 24 hour one, it took about a week to get completely back to normal in terms of eating...

Traveling, Remicade, Low Residue Diet and Adding New Things to Diet

As you're just going for the weekend I would stick with foods you know are safe. It's one thing losing a day or two out a 3 week holiday after pushing it a bit too much (as I did on my first holiday after diagnosis) but you don't want to risk spending your entire holiday on the toilet or in bed...

    Things moving quickly!!!

Good luck with the pred, it normally kicks in after a few days so hopefully you'll be feeling better soon! Pred can have some side effects but not everyone gets them so don't worry too much. But if you don't feel yourself for any reason, rest assured it'll be the pred. Most of us here have a...

Could I Hang with the Undiagnosed Club?

You are b12 deficient? Do you know why? (because b12 deficiency is rare in the healthy population, it is a red flag for something happening in the terminal ileum where 99% of b12 is absorbed)
