hey,

I know this is probably going to sound silly question.....but when should i attend A&E ive been having Severe stomach pain for 5 days now it feels like bad constipation although im still passing at least 2/3 times a day anyhow ive rang my gp and she prescribed me some pain killer co-codomal(15/500) and busopan been taking these a few days now they have take the edge of things but still dull pain and still getting bad cramps (like contractions) every so often through out the day, i cant really take the co-codomal during the day because they make me drowsy and ive got 2 babies. The Doc wasn't so sure about giving me pain killers in case i was having a blocked bowel but in the end she did and told me if pain worsens to go to a&e, although it hasn't worsened any more im still in pain ie cant do my daily activities, i just dont want to look silly going to a&e + i know they will keep me in, but i also couldnt wait like this fo another 6 weeks which is when my GI app.

Im waiting on another xray because my GI thinks there could be a stricture, im currently on pred 40mg and just been taking off Methotrexate i didnt agree with and waiting to start imuran.

Go now. 5 days is a long time to still be in pain while taking painkillers, and 6 weeks is even longer. It sounds like in your heart of hearts you know you need to go in, but it's the thought of getting kept in that's putting you off. But if it is a blockage, that's dangerous and you might be able to get your Xray sooner rather than waiting the 6 weeks suffering and worrying.
Go now.

I was waiting on a response like this boo hoo, i know i just keep thinking to myself am i as bad as what i think, and so on but the tummy is in pain never been this sore for this long, im trying to think of reasons why like could it be pred?

Totally understand your predicament. You are in limbo stage at the moment waiting to know what is wrong and yet not even sure what you can or cant take!

Just before I decided to go into hospital last July, I was having stomach cramps and reflux of gas and felt sick. I could predict everytime my stomach was going to make a gurgling noise as I would tense up with cramps and then the sound came. The final straw was at 2 in the morning when I couldnt move and hot water bottle was not helping the pain. Enough was enough and I went in and had some tests done (a lot sooner than I would have done if I was an out patient).

I came out feeling better. I still have stomach cramps now (but thats another story) but compared to back then, I can move around and go shopping etc. If your not even able to move at all I would certainly go in just for your own piece sake.

Go to the hospital! Who cares what they will think, the most important thing is your health. Get well soon and update us.

Hey Guys,

So i didnt go, :-( but on the up side feeling alot better today could be the painkillers but im definitely feeling so much more myself, 100% if the pain comes back i will head sraight to a&e its just kinda hard when you've got 2 babies to look after aswel and hate asking every1 else to work around you, but im also going to ring my GI in the morning see if i can get an app because something just isnt right with my tummy its def feels more like a blockage or spasms.

Thank You all so much i love this sight xx

I'm glad you feel better but try to get this appointment as soon as possible as if it feels like a blockage, its not a good idea to sit on it as it might get worse. Did you try a heated pad or warm water flask ? It helps me immensely during bad cramps, I hope you find out what it's hurting you soon xx

i rang my GI today but not avail until 2mr so will keep yous posted on whats going on hopefully get an app soon, today is a strange one having a little cramping nothing major a little D and some leakage in the fistula, so it goes from one extreme til another!!!
