I am going to start my 6MP this week. I don’t want to come off as a hypochondriac or a snit at my office. How do you (all who take 6mp) deal with working daily with potential sickies? I’m not sure how susceptible to illnesses I will be and am not sure what stance I need to take at my office as far as advocating for myself without coming off like a psycho. Do I send out an email (or have the office manager send it) asking people who are sick or getting sick to stay away from me (and from the office would be great) and be extra cautious for my sake or do I run around with a mask all the time or what? Ugh - your advice is greatly appreciated!!

The biggest thing you should do is wash your hands frequently, don't touch your hands to your face, and if someone is obviously sick, don't go around them.

I would not be telling everyone to stay away if they are sick or not feeling well - but again, if someone was obvious I'd ask them to keep their distance.

When I was on 6MP I didn't notice any difference in getting sick more often or not.......

I don't notice any difference on 6MP than before I started taking it. Just be more careful about washing your hands, using Purel, etc. But there's no way I'd say anything to my co-workers. I'd be irritated if someone sent an email, or worse yet had the boss send it telling people to stay away. Be your own advocate and take care of yourself. If you are lucky, you won't notice any difference being on 6MP.

I work as a police officer and handle some of the dirtiest, foul smelling, folks around. I haven't come down with anything yet. Just wash your hands ALOT...

I appreciate all the advice!! My husband is freaking out about this more than I and is paranoid I'm going to get a nasty bug at work. As far as saying wear a mask, etc. To protect myself. I supposed I could show up to work in a plastic bubble too and he might be satisfied. lol

It's all been said before and applies to any immuno-suppressive drug.

Don't obsess about it!
Wash your hands - frequently.
Use alcohol gell.
Don't touch your face.
Keep away from people who are obviously unwell.
Keep up to date with your flu shots.

If you are open about your problem/treatment with your supervisor and/or HR department let then let them know. If someone calls in sick with something that is clearly contagious they may let you know that there is increased risk of infection. They should not betray the confidence of either party!

I worked for about 3 months as a teller and was super paranoid about getting sick since I was in constant contact with people and touching money, which is known to carry all sorts of germies. I made sure I always had hand sanitizer at my station and used it after every transaction. Any chance I got, I would wash my hands and absolutely did not touch my face or nose with my hands until I was able to wash them first.

There were several people I worked with who came to work with colds and I was nervous I would catch something, but I didn't.

I had never been a big on getting flu shots up until last year and made my husband get one too so he didn't bring anything home with him. I think it'll be a routine every year now because neither of us got sick, especially him!
