Acute once a day pain in right side abdomen

Hi all
I am here to discuss case of my mother. She has crohns disease since 2010. In 2014 she got acute blockage leading to series of surgeries. She is on azoran 100 mg once a day it was started along with prednesolone 40 mg. After third surgery her colonscopy and ct show no sign of active ulcers but she has a daily pain for 4-5 hours which kind of no surgeon or physician is able to understand in india. If given some pain reliever the time will get shifted but once the med effect is gone it will come again.

Recently she was diagonosed with E.coli in urine culture whole time when she took the antibiotic for that the pain also disappeared but now antibiotic gone pain is back. Can you please help me know if this can be azoran issue or this is typical pain in crohns. Anyone who faced something similar and got some solution.

She is not on prednisolone anymore.

Hi....welcome to the forum
It is interesting to note that the pain disappeared during the antibiotic course and resumed once the antibiotic was finished.
This could suggest that the urinary infection might have resumed...has there been a further laboratory culture of a urine specimen?
Perhaps you could ask for this to be repeated.
Is there any fever with the pain?
I would suggest to Check in again with the docs for further investigation.
It can take some time to recover from abdominal surgery and pain and it has been my experience that pain can still occur for several months.,but gradually gets less.
It is important to let the doctors know all her symptoms.
We are all lay people...fellow sufferers on the forum and are not doctors....

Is your mom having pain in her bladder since she stopped the antibiotic for the E-coli urinary tract infection? Did they check her urine again to see if the infection was gone?

If she still has a Urinary infection, it can cause awful pain. I would get that checked right away, have them send her urine for culture. Insist on a culture though because a urinalysis is not enough, they need to culture it to see if the bacteria is still there. If there is no bacteria and she still is having pain in the bladder area you may want to get her in to seeing a urogynecologist who specializes in Interstitial Cystitis. Interstitial Cystitis can cause awful pain and is a chronic illness. I hope your mom feels better soon.

Thanx for the input her urine culture is on way as i type thus message. Yesterday we came to know while on antibiotic she was also on pain killer because of teeth issue so i am afraid my last statement about pain disappearing during antibiotic may not be a fact at all. I am from india and somehow here we dont have people with crohns knowledge in medical as it is termed as disease of west here...

If you people have any idea about crohns behavior to cause once a day pain or imuran side effect of this behavior where in there is unknown pain coming and going on its own and with pain killer it only shifts by few hours it will come daily for sure please do share...as i did read about people having pain with imuran but in her case its not fulltime pain case also rest all vitals are ok if not great
