Hi, I am new to this forum, I am 25 and was diagnosed with crohns back in 2007. I have tried 5/6 different treatments which unfortunatley did not agree/work with me. I am about to start Humira next Friday via injections. Last Thursday i noticed something was not right with me, I wasn't getting my normal crohns symptoms. I started vomitting alot which I rarely get, losing my appetite, having severe pain(more than usual! and stool changes. I also started feeling a lot more tired than usual, I spent most of the weekend sleeping, and have been generally feeling very unwell. I havent eaten properly for 5 days now and even went 2 days without eating anything at all. Ihave been waking up early of hours of the morning due to the pain. Today I decided to see my local GP, and he gave me anti - sickness tablets and something to stop spasms in my stomach and told me to take some time off work, however I went away feeling like I had wasted a trip to the dr's. The dr told me there is nothing to worry about because i havent passed any blood in the last couple of days even though the first few times i vomitted there was blood present! and that the vommiting had nothing to do with crohns. I know my body, and i know my usual symptoms when it comes to my flare ups, i feel inside something is not right but i don't know what to do? Could my Dr be right? or wrong? i feel so confused and worried. The pain in my stomach leaves me feeling breathless and weak. I would really appreciate any advice on what to do and what this could be?

If you feel they are not typical symptoms for you then you need to go back to your GP and tell them this, very firmly. Or do you have a GI you could see? Vomiting blood is NOT normal!!

I agree with Star - it could be that you have an ulcer, some type of infection etc.....I would go back to the Dr - and the GI if necessary.....

Thank you, I called my consultant/GI but she was unavailable but her secretary said she would call me back when her clinic has finished. I broked down and cried earlier because I felt so lost and in pain. Also I have been getting really cold and shaky even with the heating on full blast and wrapped up in blanket. I have never felt this bad with my crohns before but was scared that im over reacting. I will try and call my GI again and hope for the best. Thanks again

hi, just thought i'd update, my GI called me back from the hospital and ive got to go down to hospital for an abdominal x-ray, fingers crossed i will get some answers x

I started to get stomach ulcers from taking salafalk for 2 years, doctor switched me to pentasa and they cleared up. Also when your taking medications with Asa, you have to watch what type of pain killers you use, advil not a good idea. Flu like symptoms are common, chills , fever, fatigue. Overreacting is a common symptom of a serious disease. Stay strong this new drug is gonna change your life.

Starrgirlllllll,The blood could be from an ulcer, if you read the post, caused by medication. Most people overreact to being sick. Thinking negatively about your situation can't help.

I find people with chronic illness tend to be very stoic, and actually underreact to their health problems and put off getting help.

Had x-ray result, turns out it is severe inflammation of my bowel. Just need to rest and take steroids for now until start humira!

fyi - the less you are able to eat, the colder and more fatigued you will get. I normally run hot compared to most people, but if I'm unable to eat I just keep getting colder and colder and colder..

So glad you got some meds and are on the road to recovery. Be sure to take the steroids with food to keep from throwing up or being nauseated. When I have difficulty eating I usually eat FAGE Greek yogurt and mix in sweetener or vanilla extract. It's got a ton of protein and good bacteria for your tummy.

Hi lynzi ............ So Sorry you are feeling so rotten , and no reasuurance from your DR ., The reason this illness is isolating is that everyone is differnt , so the Dr's cant do their job , as you said You Know You Body .. I think Most ! IBD ppl. do .. if you know somethings wrong , you have to push , do you know if there is a practice nurse, in your gastro clinic , there usually pretty good , meanwhile , if i were you I would be looking to a good source to find out the side effcts of Humira , ask your local Chemist ..
I hope you feel better soon ..
