I was diagnosed with crohn's in 2005 and have thankfully been fairly healthy. In 2011 i moved to chicago and, without health insurance, went off my meds. After finding a job i found a primary care physician, but felt healthy and, stupidly never looked for a specialist.

I recently read a book about crohn's and it worried me into making an appointment, scared i'm doing damage without knowing. As if on cue my system has started showing signs of a flare. My appointment isn't until july 28th, but the bloating and odd bowel movements are making me stressed and very concerned. What would you recommend doing? I know this is my own fault, but i'm not sure how to proceed or who to ask for help. Thanks for reading!

Hello and welcome to the forum. For some people stress plays a big role on flare ups.I know is easier say than done, but try not to worry. I know some have tried liquid nutrition or special diet. You may want to read the diet forum and get some ideas of what other members do. Best wishes.

I do have insurance now, and I'm looking forward (weird) to my appointment at the end of July. I just wonder if there's anything i can do before that time, or what to do if the discomfort gets to be too much.

I've tried altering my diet a little (i've done elimination diets before and have a pretty good idea of what agrees with me), but the symptoms seem to change every day. Also trying to de-stress, as I have a feeling that's a huge part of it. Night time is definitely my most stressful point, too, which isn't helping me sleep. Thanks for the responses!
