Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

very interesting study.

here is an article that is closely related written by denis burkitt.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1588096/pdf/brmedj01541-0038.pdf

this paper he wrote, based on his research, started the "fiber craze" of the 70's, and was summarized in a book he published called - dont forget fiber in your diet. he compared the diets and stool characteristics in africa and the U.K. and theorized some diseases were related to the quality of bowel movements in relation to fiber.

this sort of adds support for his initial observations, especially the finding that these african communities have 4x higher short chain fatty acid production, which is mainly due to fiber content.

Wildbill: Interesting historical info, I also tend to believe that the increase in linoleic acid
containing fats is also a problem, along with the corn feeding of meat animals.
Wesson oil came on the market 1899.
