How long after the first resection did anyone else have to have another??? I know usually the bowel that is removed... I aslo know that Crohns usually reappers in the same area... Just curious.. Been fighting a flare for months and was wondering what my chances are having another... Mine resection was a little over 2 years ago.. Thanks for any info!

Hum... I had a total colectomy 12 years ago. They are considering removing a part of my ileum this year since I got fistulas and that the disease seems to be restricted to that area. Some people are lucky enough to only need one surgery in their life, other never need any, I don't know if there are statistics regarding that; i think I read something about 5 years being average time for symptoms reoccurence at the site and half of the people needing to undergo subsequent surgery.
I'm curious to hear about people experience on that aspect.

I am facing the same dilemma. My last resection was 12months ago. Now the latest CT shows a lot of thickening, stricturing, and scar tissue. I'm going for another coloscopy on Thursday. In my first 2 surgeries (30 days apart) they removed the iliem, appendix and a bunch of small bowel and some large. I am hoping we're not back to square one again already. I thought I would have more time. I've been reading a lot about Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) and the drup 6- MP. I wonder if those could help in my situation or yours. Definately something worth asking about. At this point I'll try anything.
