any advice please

:I have had a great non-symptomatic few months which as been great. I actually feel well in myself. However I have been losing weight and haven't had much of a appitite over the past few months. I have also developed stomach cramps but no real bowel problems. Is this normal for someone with crohns? I am not on any medications at all. I am due to see the consultant in feb. Can anyone give me any advise.

Yes, it could be a sign of problems starting...I would give a call to the consultant too and see if the appointment could be moved up.....

Agreed. Try to get in sooner. If you are eating and lsoing weight, you may not be absorbing the nutrients from your food. Malabsorption is a symptom. Glad you aren't feeling bad though!!

I also agree, you should try to move the consult up, but, as we know sometimes it's just not that easy. So if you cannot get in to see the specialist sooner my advice would be to start an "easy digestible diet", if there is some inflammation restricting absorption (as is my problem much of the time) light digestible diets can help reduce irritation and make it easier for your bowels to absorb some things. Also, to maintain your weight or try to put some on you should try to put some "liquid meals" ie. Boost, Ensure, Carnation Breakfast shakes, as they are easy on the guts and packed with healthy fats, and nutrition.
Hope that helps. Also, you may try to see your family doc. as they may have some ideas for you.
Good luck.

Welshy - you need to get these problems looked at.
I don't mean to worry you but two of the problems you mention - weight loss, poor appetite were always problems i had before the more serious ones returned (anemia, gut pain) - the cycle was always the same before i ended up under the knife again.
In my opinion they are classic signs of active IBD.
Please don't let it get any worse.
