Good Morning,
I'm here this morning for some advice on what to do. I've had Crohn's disease since I was 16. I wasn't formally diagnosed until I was 38. I'm now 46 years old.
I'm frustrated at the fact that for 16 years, I was told my symptoms were "all in my head." However, I'm experiencing some problems, and was looking for help.
I'm having frequent loose stools,x 1 week, and horrible stomach (intestinal) pain. I've scheduled an appointment with my G.I.Doc. but that isn't until the middle of July. I'm due for (another) colonoscopy. Because these symptoms aren't going away, I made an appointment with my P.C.P. (today) I'm reluctant to go, out of fear that it's "in my head". I had a CT. scan 6/3 which showed no flare, but acute appendicitis. I also had my gallbladder removed 4/10/2012. Needless to say I thought my problems were behind me.
Should I go? Anything in particular I should ask for? Is pain control an option?
Is it possible for a flare not to show on a C.T. scan??
Any thoughts/ advice would be helpful. I had taken Asacol 1600mg. 3x/day. but I'm on nothing now.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi Honeycombo
It is quite possibble that you are experiencing a flare and from your description of it you should be getting some help.
You should be getting a complete blood analysis to include ESR, CRP, Vit B12 and ferritin
levels among others.
You need to see your GIdoc sooner than JUly to bring things under control.
Hopefully your PCP will arrange work up and accelerate your GI appointment.
You do need the colonoscopy soon. A CAT scan can show abnormalities including abscesses and strictures, but a negative scan does not mean absence of a disease process.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes
