I'm as yet undiagnosed but GI specialist is pretty sure its crohns. My partner is very supportive but my mum is doing nothing but putting me on a downer. She constantly says 'you don't know its crohns. Its probably nothing. You're just convincing yourself you have it. You just need to get on with it!' there's only so much you can take before you start to really doubt yourself :( Starting to feel quite low. Even burst into tears at the GP yesterday cos she signed me off work. I'm barely able to eat. My dad has had UC for 30 odd years and cos he's never had a sick day she thinks I shouldn't either. I've tried explaining the difference between UC and Crohns and what my symptoms are but she doesn't listen.

I'm so sorry to hear your mother is not being supportive. Maybe it is her way of coping?
Otherwise, my advice would be not to engage with her on the subject because it's clearly upsetting you, it might be slightly easier to deal with if it's not a verbal bone of contention between the two of you.

Hello LittleKit,

May I ask how old are you ? are you living with your mum under the safe roof ?
At what stage are you towards diagnosis ? Is your doctor running tests to make it all clear ?

Hope you feel better soon. In the meanwhile, as disappointing as it is, try to avoid talking to your mother about that issue; set her free of it. As I see it, it is usually coming from the place of not wanting to deal with it, so instead she is convincing herself that you got nothing and so on.
It's not uncommon.
I hate it.
But that's what we've got and that's how you gonna win.

Hi I'm 29. Haven't lived at home for over 10 years. At the moment I'm waiting on appointments for flexible sigmoidoscopy and MRI of my small bowel. Thanks so much guys :)

I looked at your thread title and thought "yes, every single day of my life."
