So recently the law was passed for Arizona to be a medical marijuana state. My boyfriend who has had Crohn's disease since he was 22, he is 36 now, has always felt that MM was the best thing to handle his constant lack of appetite. He has lost so much weight recently and I feel like I have to constantly shove food down his throat so he doesn't waste away. So in the past we have always had to go the illegal route when it came to getting something. I was so happy to hear that this law had passed in Arizona, one less thing for us to worry about. However, it hasn't been so easy.

On the list on conditions that qualify a patient to receive MM, Crohn's is one of those conditions. His doctor won't sign off on it though. Even though when the proposition was still in the process of being voted on, his doctor told him he would be a perfect candidate. The doc is worried about getting in trouble if somehow the decision gets overturned. Now I have researched doctors who will sign this form, but they will only do it for a fee. What I have found is that most places want to charge you $150 for a visit. The card itself also costs $150. My boyfriend can get a discounted card costing him $75 (which is actually do-able) but he was hoping to get his doctor to sign the form he needs, which now doesn't seem like it will happen.

Affording $225 for this just isn't something our budget can handle right now. My boyfriend is on disability which gives him roughly $450 a month, which doesn't even cover all of his monthly costs. Why can't there be someone who will sign off on this without charging so much just to see him and his medical records and say "Yep, you got Crohn's so you qualify, let me sign that for you."? Thats what I wanna know.
