Hi all
I just found out that I have to start taking b-12 shots. What are your experiances? Do they hurt? Any side effects? How long until they take effect?

Thanks

I get them every 8 weeks, along with my remicade infusion....it is just a shot in the arm.....no biggie

I do it myself every 4 weeks in the leg. Its very easy and virtually painless when you get used to it.

I get a B12 injection every months or so, usually just at my local doctors clinic. It stings but nothing too serious. I usually start feeling better 3 - 4 days after the injection, but others may feel it quicker than this. I always know when I need my injection - I experience extreme tiredness and my head feels like it is floating - kind of like it is not connected to my neck!

Ive been getting them for about 6 months first two at doc. now i do it at home much cheaper. I don't notice anything wish I did. Good luck hope they start helping you. OH yea first they told me give it about two or three months they they said well maybe six?

I have them every week. I twist around and inject myself in the bum. It really isnt that bad. when I get them I feel better the next day already. But it really is nothing to be afraid of.

Good luck!

I get them monthly. My sister does them for me. I also do not notice a difference. It doesnt really hurt.

i used to have the injections 3 monthly, but started to notice depletion signs earlier than they were due, so now i have them 2 monthly... they sting while they're going in, but no bad side effects after. the good effects, for me, are noticeable within around 24-48 hours..

I get it every other week, sometimes it will burn....especially if Im having a more painful day. I feel the effects of them the next day and I feel really good. I love my B12 shots.....hope you feel better

My level was pretty low (140) when I started getting monthly shots about 4 months ago. From what I have read the lower you are when you start the longer it takes to see/feel a difference. I have never gotten a big energy boost that many do, but I do believe I am finally starting to notice a difference. I sleep less than before and am a little more energetic, I but still get pretty tired at times. I think I am less scatter brained. For "side effects", oddly I usually sleep alot the day after a shot. The first couple shots I slept for about 15 hours the following day. It was not so bad this last time, but I was noticably tired the next day. Then I am fine.
They don't hurt any more that any other shot...especially if they use a small needle.
Good luck !

I asked my doctor for the shots and he said he saw no reason to have them when I could do the nose thing...I forget the name of it...once a week I snif this red stuff into my nose. Am I the only one doing this? Norocaol or something like that. I should know what i am on...geeze i take so much medication...anyhow...I keep feeling like a shot would be better for results. Although the mist is easy to do...once a week. Hmmm...my doc is either old fashioned or cutting edge...by the way...I know my number was very very low.
