Hi hope you all having a good xmas
Just wanted some advice my daughter has crohns and has been suffering with quite a bad lower back pain is this part of the disease

Hi Brett. Back and joint paint is common in some people with crohn's. Some get it while they are flaring or some even while in remission. Some medicines also can cause pains. I suggest you make a rheumatologist appointment to make sure nothing else is going on. I hope your daughter feels better soon.

my rheumatologist says that joint pain is a symptom of whats going on with your ibd/crohn's. it mirrors what is going on in your guts.. so when your joints & such hurt usually your insides have some problems also... ive been having problems with this myself. my rheum says that i may need to go on some biologic with my aza in order to control this, even tho my recent colonoscopy came back clean. he said there may be microscopic inflammation that is not being treated with the aza.

I would contact her GI. In the meantime, you could try heating pads. My daughter uses rice bags for any kinds of aches and pains.

Hi Brett and welcome.
Sorry to hear about her back pain.
It does seem par for the course with this disease to have some kind of joint pain.
My Grace (4 yrs old) has Juvenile Arthritis besides IBD.
Samantha's idea of the rice bags is great.
Also stretching helps. I know it's hard when you hurt but keeping those muscels moving is important.
