I need advice. For the past 3 days or so I have been having pain this dull pain up inside my barbie butt. it is not on the skin it is up inside. Today it has been hurting all day and I don't know what this could be. Does anyone ever have this and have suggestions as to what might be going on. I don't know if it is phantom pain or not, it doesn't feel quite like that.

yes, i'm not quite sure what a barbie butt is either. Can you elaborate some more about the location of your pain? Thanks.

I'm picturing pain you would have after sitting on a Barbie. With her pointy E-cups, that would not be comfortable at all! Hahaha!

You may have internal hemorrhoids, fissures, or rectal spasms.

the barbie butt is what they call it when you have a permanent ostomy and no rectum or anus. they sew everything up.

You might post your question in the Stoma Subforum. There are several forum members who have had proctocolectomy and may be able to help you.

Don't worry Ashly, there are many ostomates on this forum. The term barbie butt is not used here frequently even though I've seen it a couple time. I thought that the user were using that expression in a joking way. Unfortunately, I don't have much input regarding what the pain could could be caused by...I still have my rectal stump so can't refer to my own experience. I think Phantom pain could be a possibility but I find it's late after surgery for its onset. Maybe related to some process of adhesions formation?

Thanks for the clarification. I had no clue how to respond to "barbie butt" :p

I moved your thread to the stoma subforum for additional support :)

Hi Ashlygt,
I have a barbie butt, when people are being nosed about my surgery last year I tell them I went and got a 'barbie butt'. Poor buggers, they think I had lipo or a butt lift (really funny cause I'm a full bodied chic). One poor bugger even suggested I may have been ripped off,if only they knew my butt is closer to barbies than theirs will ever be ie it is sealed tight and does not function! Sometimes it is only my sick sense of humour that gets me through!!

Hey Ash--I'm going with phantom rectum as well. I may have read somewhere that it can happen for years post surgery--but I can't remember. I get odd sensations from time to time myself. Maybe you should get it checked out if pain persists? Sorry I have no better advice--take care.

Ash I have an ileostomy and still have my butt. I recently developed an abscess jsut inside my rectum and it ached like anything until it burst. Not the normal sharp pain of an abscess but a deep ache. So if your pain is continuing I'd get your doctor to do an MRI in case you have an abscess. May well be just phantom pains but better to be safe than sorry.

Okay...Barbie Butt...hysterical.

I do still get phantom sensations, but can't really describe them as painful. Typically for me, before the surgery, the most painful and active part of the day was first thing in the morning. Since my hind-end-modification, I will actually start to walk to the restroom thinking 'here we go again'. (i get confused easily...lol)

If it's hurting quite a lot, however, I would definitely have the doc check it out.

I personally don't have a Barbie butt. But, LOL, I do get pain up inside and it is like an off and on pain, sort of like a spasm but not quite. It doesn't happen after a BM, it just shows up anytime like laying in bed last night. It's def not gas either. I have posted about this and no one seems to know what it is. I don't have a stoma either.

723crossroads ---It is a spasm. They can be really really bad! Multiple times I was woken from a dead sleep with sharp rectal spasms. In my case it was from major inflammation and ulcers.

and yet my last colonoscopy 3 months ago showed no ulcers! Maybe up higher? I am supposed to get a pillcam in the fall at my request. Don't want to go now in the summer. Enough tests already! Plus I skipped my mammogram and have to get one by Nov. or my Gyno will yell at me. I'm tired of getting these things squished!:voodoo:
