I have been having this problem for about 9 0r 10 months now.

When ever I need to take a crap, the pieces are right inside the hole Luke they are about to come out, but then they do not come out. They are often very hard and only come out when I use my finger to get them out.

I have tried miralax, drinking more water, and eating more fiber. none of it has really helped.

Does anyone have advice?

I'm sorry EGOD I dont know your history. The problem is fiber can lead to complications, especially if you have a narrowing in your gut or rectum. Sometimes a low fiber diet can actually help things. Maybe ask your Dr for some Magnesium Hydroxide, its gentle but it helps.
Hope this helps

Thank you for the advice!

I do not have narrowing and I am currently on Remicade.

This problem is especially frustrating because I just had my 3rd colonoscop a month ago. All my gastro saw was a little bit of inflammation.

Perhaps the inflammation is slowing down the colonic transit. You may need to use some enmas to get things moving and perhaps biscodyl tablets or Senokot. I'm currently going out of my mind trying to get my slow colonic gut moving while at the same time trying to get the stool soft so I understand what you're talking about. I have found that taking Miralax alone doesn't work for me. It's almost as if there is a hold up somewhere in the GI tract. My GI doc told me to take two biscodyl, then a half hour later do an enema. Next, wait an hour and do another enema. This seems to start the ball rolling. No pun intended. :ylol: Constipation and hard stools are a daily struggle for me.
