belly fat

Ok I have been on this for about three months now. I went to my GI for a normal checkuo and they wieghed me. I was 200 pounds. I have been 190 before but never 200. The odd thing is on my belt, I am at the skinniest notch and the four nothces heading to the fatter side have all been used before. Now I have worked hard this year but I don't have thatmuch extra muscle. It seems the weght is all my belly, my face and neck are all thin. Anyone else experience this?

I honestly don't know it could be a number of things like water weight, muscle that you are noticing, different clothes/shoes for the weigh in, maybe you ate right before the weigh in, fecal matter that's yet to pass or maybe the scale they have is messed up etc. I got weighed at my GP's office a week ago and I had lost 10 pounds in many months time but when I got weighed at my GI's office today I somehow gained 10 pounds. WAT? Not possible in a weeks time. Every scale is different and honestly, to hell with other people's scales. Use your own scale at home and monitor your weight that way. Some of the scales at doctor's offices are really old and could be busted.

Crabbers filled in everything I had to say. :)

But I do also have more belly fat now (not from Humira, but from steroids. And maybe aging.) and have been trying to do core exercises to help me be better able to suck it in lol, and up the cardio as well.

I'm doing my low GL diet, which helped me lose weight and made me feel better a few years ago, I had no D while I was on the diet. I've lost about 7 pounds so far, but I've also started lifting weights, just dumbbell exercises. Could be my age also, I just turned 23 for the second time and wow what a difference this time. For instance now I don't have to smoke illegal substances to forget where I set my coffee down!

low glycemic load diet. It's a version of the low carb diet. Someone measured the amount of a particular food yo had to eat in one hour to raise your blood sugar level to the point you produced insulin, which turns the sugar to fat and stores it. So you avoid spiking the blood sugar and you don't gain weight. The other benefit is when your body hits you with insulin it can overshoot and that's when you get that tired feeling like after lunch. I found it really helped for energy levels. It's such an easy diet because you can eat anything, you just have to eat less refined grains and sugar.

The other thing that it may do is help balance the flora in your gut, because a lot of the carbs we eat help keep the bad bacteria growing cause they like it too.

Google it, there is alot of information out there and good luck!

The research says that belly fat is related to insulin levels. Have you had a fasting blood sugar test? Maybe you have what they call insulin resistance? If you have had to be on Pred, you risk Diabetes.

I too carry weight on my belly which is impossible to shift. I put it down to a combo of being on pred in the past, having an inflammed bowel and having 2 sections. I do stomach ex's a couple of times a week and teach pilates and it still won't shift. I did ask the surgeon for a tummy tuck last time I had surgery but he seemed to forget to do it, so will have to maybe treat myself one of these days. I'm also a sweet freak so I suppose I know the reason behind it... goodluck in finding a cure for it.
