beryll the stoma wouldnt change it if a had the choice :)

i was 15 when i developed crones disease was an awful experience all happened so fast i was in so much pain constantly, i was in hospital for 3 months and none of the medication was helping went down to 6 and half stone i looked terrible, then after the 2nd month in hospital they told me i needed a permament colostonmy bag i thougiht my life was over, i am now 22 and even have a name for my stoma i call it beryl no ones even notices it i only tell the people i want to know, and no one cares any way just glad im ok, i had 46 staples in my stomach as the whole large bowel had to be removed and the scarring has faded so much and its a really neat scar to, im just glad im happy and healthy again, so just to say any one whos worried about getting a bag dont worry about it life goes on a wouldnt get it reversed even if i ahd the choice its made me go back to the normal bubbly person i was before i developed crohn's disase

Hi Katie! Good for you! Many of us feel the same way - we are so relieved and feeling so good with our ostomy that we don't even care about having a bag! Personally, I cringe when I hear people refer to it as "the dreaded bag" or that they think it's going to be the end of the world if they get a bag.

Keep up the positive attitude! Bilbo (my stoma) says Hi to Beryl!!!

Hi Katien,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your story. You've come a long way and it's great that you're upbeat and enjoying life.

Welcome to the stoma club! I'm grateful to have Stan as he saved my life. I'm sorry he was born, only because I'm sorry to have Crohns. But as that is what life has handed us, I'm grateful it isnt much worse!

Great attitude from you and can you tell us why you named yours Beryl?

Misty

Welcome to our little club :) Like Misty, my Oscar saved my life too! And I wouldn't change it for anything.

I couldnt agree more. I'm still only 6 weeks post op and im living the most i have in years! My little R-Patz is a god send, a litle less good looking then the real one though! (its a long story how i came to call him r-patz)
All i can say is.......Food. Glorious food.
