Bile smelling poo

Hi

Firstly sorry if I have put this in the wrong place but anyway:

I have been noticing that when I go th the loo the smell is horrid and smells like bile, I do have a few gallstones but after advise from a surgon the best thing was not to have it removed.

So... I was wondering does anyone else have this problem and if so what do you do about it.

I would hazard a guess and say it is most likely due to the fact that you aren't absorbing bile salts very well. I see you have small bowel disease so it would fit with that.

How many times a day do you go to the toilet?

I can go upto 10 times aday, I had a nuclear scan last year and came back negative! and they carnt do one for another 12 mths so they say.

What did the scan come back negative for?

My daughter has had an ileal resection and she suffers with bile salt malabsorption. If you have inflammation/scarring in that area then you may well have the same sort of problem. There are prescription medications you can take to help absorb the bile salts and that in turn will bulk up your stool but Sarah uses psyllium husks, they have the same effect.
