Hi all! I know this may be TMI however my doctor is not really giving me much input on the matter...or I may be impatient...either way I need help!

I was diagnosed with Crohn's in September 2011. It was found through many tests b/c I didn't present with "typical" symptoms. I was mostly constipated and had a lot of pain before/during/after going to the bathroom.

I take Miralax every night so I'm not in pain and I can go more frequently.
Currently I am taking Pentasa which makes my BM's softer and pulp-like. Because my calcium and Vit D were low, I had to take supplements. The calcium really constipated me so my GI told me to take 2 multivitamins and 2 calcium-magnesium tabs a day. She said the magnesium would cancel out the constipation.

Now my stool is very soft and I hardly ever have a complete bowel movement. Pretty much every time I go to pee, I have to poop a little. It's very annoying b/c when I wipe it doesn't wipe clean, and I have to carry wipes everywhere with me. It a;sp is very thin and almost cat-poo like if that makes sense...someone posted that they had flat, ribbon-like BM...that sounded like mine. It's almost like it's constricted.

Also when I have gas it's very foul smelling...

I took Metamucil wafers for about a week and I was having solid, more complete BM's. My GI said to switch to Cetricel b/c the synthetic fiber is gentler on my intestines. It is not producing results. I stopped taking it.

I just want normal BM's!! Is this too much to ask? LOL

Any tips on what I can do?

**I am currently on a low fiber, no whole grains, no raw vegetables, no fruit skins, no dairy diet. FUN!

Thanks in advance...sorry it's so wordy!

I have been trying Inulin fibre,it is a soluble fibre and easily goes into solution.
My GI suggested Pegol which is a dilute version of the colonoscopy bowel prep .
The instruction is 17gram/daily. Sometimes works.

The GI suggested it because I found using cortifoam that it stopped BMs .
I stopped the cortifoam ,which displeased him and he expected me to continue it.
the cortifoam stops the loose bms and the pain, but then I get into a difficult situation with no bms, or difficult ones.

Ribbon like poo can be a sign of a stricture. Have you mentioned this to the GI? If not I would do so. The foul smelling gas as well can be a tell tale sign.

I think you need to get ahold of your IBD nurse today, before the holiday weekend and see if they have some thoughts about this.
