I went to the new doctor my GI referred me to for the fissure that's been causing me problems. She was a lot younger than I pictured her to be, but she was really nice, gentle and very confident. I liked her. Which is saying a lot for me.
Anyway...the exam was a little difficult obviously. Just the position they had me in to exam was very awkward and embarrassing!! She had a hard time finding anything and even went in with a scope to try to look better.( now I know why I am asleep for scopes!! OMB this hurt and was sooo uncomfortable! I cant imagine being awake, even partially awake for a full scope!!)
Anyway...turns out I only had a very small fissure. For the amount of pain I have been in, I could have sworn the thing was the size of a golfball. Lol but she said my sphincter muscled are insanely tight and that's causing them to spasm which is what's causing me so much pain. That's why she had such a hard time doing the exam. Kind of confusing, I don't fully understand myself.
So I am scheduled in two weeks to get Botox injections. She thinks this will help me a lot, if it's not enough, we may have to look into physical therapy.:ywow: I'm kind of afraid to know what this involves. At least I won't have to be awake for the injections! We just pray we can get the insurance to cover it, otherwise we are looking at $600-$800.
I have been joking with my mom on a couple of things. One, I can tell people " hey! I have had Botox! But you will never find where! :ytongue: Then the other thing, for botox for cosmetic purposes, they only make you buy 50 cc's. Well for this reason though, they make you buy the whole 100 cc's, but she really only needs 50 for the procedure. We have been teasing my aunt who is thinking about getting botox for some wrinkles in her face that we can give her the other half.:ytongue: but then one of my close friends( my coworker who also has crohns) also said she likes Botox, so we said we will put the other half on eBay and the highest bidder wins. Haha seriously though, the doctor actually injects the whole 100 anyway. Figures since we have to pay for it
anyway, might as well use it. Haha.
Oh and I think this was like the ONLY doctor in my life who has actually been on time! My appointment was for 9:30. We got there at 9. I got taken back at 9:10 and we were out my 9:45. I was very impressed! And very happy! I hate long waits in doctors offices, especially when I'm really nervous like I was today!!
