Today I've been suffering from an episode of burning pain in the lower left abdomen. This is something quite new for me over the past few months. It varies in severity and duration, lasting from 15 minutes to most of an evening.

I've had cramping pain for most of my life - this is usually followed by vomiting. But this burning pain is quite new and I was wondering what it is. Is it just inflammation in the intestines? If anyone else has had this I'd be interested in hearing your experiences.

Thanks

had all the cramp fun before, but never the burning.

i ignored the cramps for so long it became a major flare for me, so if the burning is a recurring symptom i'd really advise getting a doctors perspective.

good luck

I have been getting a strange burning sensation lately. It is usually in my lower left ab and sometimes around my back in that same area. I really can't descibe it. It doesn't really hurt, it's just an uncomfortable sensation...feels almost like it's on the reverse side of my skin, if that makes any sense? Not sure if it's the same as what you are having.

Anyway, I have been experiencing some things lately that are not usual for me, including C 9instead of my usual D) and these strange burning pains. Since it hasn't progressed to anything worse, I decided to just let it be and bring it up to my GI at my next appointment.

I suffer the same feeling but in my lower right quadrant and it rises up my right side. I figured it's pain due to buildup in bacteria in site of inflammation, since antibiotics (Cipro and Flagyl) seem to help with this pain.

As I mentioned in another post, this type of pain can be an H-pylori infection. You could try Mastic gum and see if it helps. If it does, you likely have it.

I haven't been diagnosed with CD (have a lot of the symptoms) and I, too have experienced a radiating, burning pain in my lower abdomen. I've felt it twice and both times I had to literally hold my stomach to walk until I managed to sit down on a bed. Both times were in the evening and it was gone by that morning (went to sleep with the help of an aid). The best way to describe it was as a huge inflammation. No idea what it is, but you're definitely not alone.

From what I understand Helicobacter pylori occurs in the upper GI tract, namely the stomach and duodenum (thanks Wiki :)). My pain is a lot lower than that in the lower left quadrant, almost in the exact same area where I get camping pain. I'm thinking that it's occurring at the join from one of my resections.

Hi RafHam:

Right at this very moment I have an uncomfortable burning pain on what feels like my transverse colon. It comes and goes. I've tried going to the bathroom and that didn't help as it just keeps coming back. So you are not alone. Hang in there.
