I've been reading that caffeine should be avoided any suggestions for a caffeine free energy boost? I work a 12 hour rotating shift with an hour drive home and would like to be able to stay awake for that ride home @ 5am after working all night.

5 hour energy? I don't think that has caffeine in it...

And caffeine should be kept in moderation or avoided. I completely cut out soda from my diet about 2 years ago. I now drink tea for the caffeine. Also, B vitamins (i.e. B12) are good for energy.

I would say Yerba Mate as well... although it does have a form of caffeine, I can drink it in the evenings and still get to sleep at night. Try it and see if you like it!

L-tyrosine can provide a pick me up on energy as well, assuming your b6 intake is ok. If not, you'll need to take a small amount of b6 to assist in converting the l-tyrosine into the compounds responsible for the energy boost.

I get huge amounts of energy from juicing veggies. I don't even need coffee in the morning anymore. A juice twice a day and I can go nonstop for 18 hours a day and still feel great.

Having coconut milk has given me energy boosts before. I have had it either with thai curries or for a while I was having it as I was reading some info saying it contained healthy fats (especially certain medium chain fatty acids).

This is available at some local grocery stores in my area as well as in Asian food stores. I recommend 100% coconut milk as others contain sugar, preservatives, etc.

The brand I have had in the past is in this picture. If you do try coconut milk start slowly (not too much) as you want to make sure your body reacts well to it if it is a new food.
