Hi guys,
Wanted to ask a question to see if anyone else has had it :) I had illostomy due to Crohn's and on my stoma I have red dots and a red raw mark. It's been there for a while not bleeding or sore but trying to figure out what it is :)
Thanks guys :)

Hi and welcome.

I'm not sure what that would be. It could be some irritation. Can you email a picture to your stoma nurse?

Welcome to the forum!
Is it possible that the bag or flange is rubbing on this area? I've had red dots on the actual stoma a few times that I never figured out what caused it, but they went away after a few days. I get raw marks on the skin surrounding the stoma all the time that is caused by exposure to waste when the flange isn't covering the skin very well. How long have you had your ileostomy?

Some redness and even bleeding is normal. How long have the marks and dot been there? Does it look very different from how it looked before? It's very hard to know if something's normal from a description - there seem to be all sorts of marks and colours that are normal, even when new ones develop.

I had red bumps that looked like tiny pimples but it was normal and just the way the stoma was but a picture would help us.

Thanks guys :)
I had my operation in August but can't say when I remember getting these marks I'm from the country and my stoma nurse is away but I've sent a pic :) my pic is too big to attach which is a bummer cos it would've been great to show you guys.
Sounds like it's not unusual from what you are saying though which is great! My surgeon said he wants me to have another scope to see if I have Crohn's in my small intestine to be sure.
You guys r a great help :)
