I am wondering if anyone has any tips for coping with taking cipro & flagyl? The side effects that I'm having (extreme nauseousness, upset stomach, dizziness etc) are all common but in wondering if anyone has discovered a way to make it more tolerable. Having to work and live daily life sometimes having difficulty stand up and keep food down is becoming harder and harder.
Please help if you have any tips!

Sorry, no great tips here. Except I think I have heard taking the flagyl with food helps. Has your Dr got any advice? My son has been on Flagyl for almost 7 months now and we just added cipro last month. I just wanted to say we understand, hugs.

The dizzyness comes from the cipro, it tends to go away after a few days, if it doesn't you should discuss it with your doctor, are you on 1000mg? Upset stomach is something that's not something you can do a lot about really.

Quinolones like cipro are a type of antibiotic you can't stay on, it's good for a few weeks then most doctors will stop it.

Cipro's dizzyness tends to go away, it did for me. The more serious side effects are tendons issues, that's why most doctors only give it for a week or 2, because each time the chance of tendon issues increases. I never had any issues with my tendons on cipro though.

maybe this helps for the cipro, when I had it the first few days I took my second cipro pill right before bed, I got dizzy about 3 hours after taking cipro, so by then I was already sleeping so the dizzyness didn't bother me

the first few days I was extremely dizzy btw, hard time being able to focus, but it went away, I know some people get extremely dizzy while others don't seem to get dizzy at all on cipro

also don't use glutamine with cipro btw, glutamine can already make you dizzy, add cipro and it will make you feel really really bad

I didn't realize cipro came with the tendon side effect. Would that explain achy body? Especially when I wake up in the morning? The cipro I take in the morning and at night so the night one is okay. It's just the morning dose that can be difficult to handle.
The weird thing is that te flagyl seems to give me the cray nauseousness. I have to take that pill three times a day and it's usually those three times that I have about an hour of extreme nauseousness and then it passes and I feel better. Still a wee bit nauseous but it's definitely tolerable.

Yes, it should be on your little booklet or information you got with cipro, if it's straight from Bayer it should be in there for sure, but license brands have the info too. Don't put unneeded pressure on your tendons while on cipro to avoid rupture (especially achilles, so don't go do jumping jacks)

As far as the aching, I have never had tendon issues so I don't know how it would feel, ciprofloxacin impacts the central nervous system too, which is why you can feel a weird kind of dizzy. I felt a bit weird and a bit tired on cipro overall to be honest. It goes away though, the body repairs itself in almost all cases just fine after you stop cipro.

Well, hopefully you feel better soon, it's a powerful antibiotic, shame you can not stay on it long-term really, it seems to help for people with crohn's disease.
