Ok so I had my colonoscopy and EGD this morning and the doctor said he found no new active Crohn's, but found a lot of gastritis and inflammation and scar tissue. I've been hurting for a while and had 2 resections about a year ago (30days apart). So I guess my question is what can I expect, treatment wise? And should I ask him about things like LDN, 6-mp, MXT? He's never mentioned those kinds of treatments before. I only know of them because of this site. When I've asked about other treatments he's said that because I failed Remicade, that anything else like humira, wouldn't work. Prednisone also does not work for me. He put me on Entocort and I've been on Pentasa for a while, but have never tried anything else. I'm so frustrated because I hurt all the time and go to the bathroom 10-20 times a day. Ive been reading a lot on here about drugs like LDN, MXT, and 6-mp, and just wonder, from what you guys know, are these things that I should push for him to try? Ive also read on here that many docs are reluctant to try these (at least here in the States- and I live in the South where we are more than a little behind on cutting edge treatments. I'm supposed to go see my doc in a couple weeks to discuss a game plan, so I want to be prepared with as much info and as many ideas as possible. In the past he's said that the usual frontline drugs used to treat crohns simply don't work for me so I'm just trying to think outside the box. Please respond with any of your thoughts about my case as I consider you guys to be the real experts, after all, we are the ones who've been there done that, so to speak. I would love to hear your advice and/or experiences.
Thanks so much,
Beth

Oh and one more thing, I almost constantly run a low grade fever of about 100 degrees. Which makes me feel awful! What is that about??

My son has gastritis and active Crohns and takes Aciphex for the gastritis and Asacol and prednisone for the Crohn's and does well with it. Not sure if they have tried the Asacol or Aciphex for you.

Sorry you didnt have a great outcome but there are many meds to help the inflammation but scar tissue...nothing only from my daughter studying about medicinal MJ it is supposed to help that. I have been on MTX, and 6 mp. If I could tolerate either one I would choose 6mp or Imuran. I had a reaction to Remicade and Humira did work but only for about 6months. It is frustrating I know. Pred works for me but it is the worst pill to be on, especially long term. Let us know what you end up taking.

Beth, I would maybe try to see if they will let you try Humira, Cimzia or something like that. Just because you failed Remicaid I don't think that means you will fail the other biologics. There is a medication I'm getting ready tos tart called Tysabri, most people are afraid of it because there is a small risk of this brain infection with it. However, I've been assured, that just like side-effects listed for Remicaid, Humira things like that, just because it is listed as a side effect does not mean it will actually happen.

I took REmicaid for about 5 years and it did really good for me. I then took humira for about 3 years and it worked as well but then stopped after a while. I don't think it could hurt for you to try it.

As pen said before, there's not really anything that they can do with the scar tissue in there. I was told no medicine would fix that.

I hope that you start feeling better soon and get better treatment!
