Hello guys i am currently on steroids (hydrcortisone) for my adrenals but i believe i may have Crohn's also. Would it still be possible to run tests to diagnose Crohn's while on the steroids or would i need to be off them?

Thank you
Steve

I think it's worth a try while on the steroids, I had been taking steroids for a few weeks before I got a colonoscopy done, and the inflammation was visible and confirmed via biopsy. (I was also still having some symptoms, just not as severe as before taking the steroids)

Just bear in mind that a negative while taking steroids might not be a true negative.

I was on remicade 8 months and on and off pred and still tested positive on inflammation blood test for CD and still had inflammation on scope after 3 wks of high dose pred.

I would ask the Dr so they will at least be aware if you get a neg result that the roids might have caused it falsely like Rebecca85 said

I see you requested additional support. Mind if I ask what dose of steroids you're on? If its a low dose then it may not be keeping all of the inflammation under control so I think they would more than likely find something while they're in there. There's no harm in having testing done to find out what's causing your issues. Keep us posted. :)

Yeh i requested additional support for the wrong thread if im to be honest, and then i didnt know how to undo it. It does relate to steroids tho...

I am on 0.1 Florinef and 40+mg of Hydrcortisone.

One problem i have is that each day i feel i need different amounts of hydrcortisone which makes me wonder if some days i have worse inflamation. Have you seen this at all before?

Thank you
Steve
