Crohn's symptom or not

I was surprisingly diagnosed with Crohn’s colitis in 2002. I just assumed it was IBS or the fact I was working in Mexico for that year and my stomach didn’t agreewith what I ate. Since then I have barely had any Crohn’s issues and didn’t need medication (don’t hate me). The diagnosis has been reconfirmed with each colonoscopy and progressed to precancerous polyps to be removed 3 times so far. Due to the polyps I started Lialda. Besides the polyps no issues at all I would say the last 7 years. Ok background over here’s my question. Over xmas I was nauseous for about 3 days and had god awful abdominal pains that lasted 5-10 minutes and then nothing until the following day. No other issues. Fast forward to last week I awoke to the worst pain ever...like labor pains. It lasted again 5-10min and then for the next 2 days that area ached and of course the nausea was back. Same pain less intense 2 days later. Does this sound like Crohn’s related to you or not? I see gastro PA tomorrow but the nausea is awful (morning sickness deja vu) and the pain level was so bad I’m scared. Oh and it’s not my gallbladder that’s gone already and it’s upper abdominal so it’s not appendix. No fever, no diarrhea, no constipation. Perplexed and scared.

It could be Crohn's. My Crohn's hurts like that sometimes - a sharp pain that lasts a few minutes followed by several days or a week of a dull ache

When I have obstructions in the place where my appendix was I don’t get any pain there, instead I get Labour like pains, waves of agonising cramps in the centre of my abdomen above my belly button just below my ribs. Absolutely agonising. Pre diagnosis I thought I was dying.

Update: after 2 days in the hospital and I think every organ ruled out by nervous residents I finally had a GI consult who suspected and ulcer. After an EGD I was diagnosed with gastritis and apparently I have signs of ciliacs disease in my small intestine. Waiting for lab results to see if the gastritis is from bile or H pylori bacteria. My guess is it’s from Bile reflux because I had my gallbladder removed 3years ago and it’s a know issue after removal (I know that now but not then). Also waiting for biopsy results to see if it is ciliacs. I wish it was just Crohn’s because I have enough diseases already. Interstitial cystitis, Endometriosis, Crohn’s, multiple sclerosis, central serous retinopathy.

Welcome Carrie,

Feel free to vent, we will gladly listen. This kind of stuff is very hard to deal with, and that darn pain sounds familiar from years ago. I don't envy you at the moment, I'm praying it subsides.

Best wishes,

Chris
