I had a sore throat in late July, and went to Outpatients, saw a dr and he said "Yes, looks like Strep" and gave me Penicillin.
I went back to Outpatients again in late August and same Dr was on call. I told him my throat was still hurting, sore and very dry, feels like swallowing cotton balls. He did blood work, examined my throat, swapped it for Strep.(negative) He didn`t know what was wrong with my throat. He said I should see an Ear,Nose and throat Dr and have a scope put down. I even asked him if it could be Thrush? He said NO.
Got an appointment for the throat specialist in October???? Things were getting worse, I needed relief now.
I went and saw my family Dr on Sept 9th and he diagnosed me with Thrush almost immediatey. He wanted a throat swab to come back before he gave me any meds though. Sure enough tested positive for Candida Yeast.
I have been very sick with this. I have no appetite, bloody diarrhea, vomit whitish phlem 2-3 times a day. I think the fluconozole is working though,( 3-50mg tabs and 1 week later repeat).
I think due to the time it took them to diagnose me, it has progressed down my espophogus and maybe beyond? I hope this medication will clear it up.
Does anyone have any advice? Is the 2 doses -150 mg each enough to clear this up ? Has anyone had any similar experiences?
THRUSH is HORRIBLE!!!!
Thanks for your support!!
