Ok here goes...

Is it possible for your bum hole to actually tear when doing a poo?

I don't know what on earth has happened to my no 2's since being on this modulen!!

Most of the time it is a mad, but careful, dash to the toilet where there is nothing but liquid coming out but sometimes it is as hard as rock!!!:poo:

Just now i had the most painful poo and it felt like a boulder and took ages to push it out (see told you TMI!!) and i really thought something was going to give down there :eek2::eek2:

Hey Pin,

If someone is constipated they can cause a tear to their anus and it would normally be like a small cut.

I hope that helps!!!

Dusty

Thanks Dusty :)

Also what do you all use for sore bottoms? Mine is so so sore and my experience earlier did not help :(

I see some people talk about calmoseptine? What is it? It is just in USA or can we get it over here?

I use sudocrem at the moment but not sure this is the best solution.

Also sometimes get REALLY itchy :( is this normal or am I just 'special' ?

Sorry for all the questions but sometimes you just have to ask....

Yeah it can get itchy so you're not the only privileged one there! lol I found sudocrem helped a little but not a fantastic amount, I don't know what I was given but I made a dash to the gp and after a couple of days of the cream they gave me all was sorted! :) I say give them a visit ...

I use baby wipes for a couple of days if I am itchy, as they clean without scratching and making matters worse. I used to suffer lots with those little tears, but since diagnosis I suffer less, probably as my stool is looser than it used to be.

In addition to Calmoseptine, I'll occasionally turn to 1% hydrocortisone as well (it can only be used for short periods of time, but can be helpful when the itching gets out of control).

Also, if the itching, um, spreads and you see skin irritation and you've recently been treated with antibiotics (ex: Crohn's standards like Cipro and Flagyl), consider the possibility that it might be an external yeast infection. Please don't ask how I know this, lol!

I've used Calmoseptine and hydrocortizone with lidocaine as Kelly says and together they work amazingly. Just alternate which one you use and start with the hydrocortizone with lidocaine as that will numb things up and a few hours later put on the Calmoseptine. Good luck

I had similar problem recently and was introduce to a Sitz bath. I do not have a tub so the Sitz bath was nothing short of a miracle. If you have a tub, maybe a good warm soak will help. I personally know what a pain in the butt this can be (LOL) and I hope yours feels better soon.

thanks everyone

the itching got unbearable last night

and im dreading what may happen on the toilet today... have been drinking my movicol loads in the hopes it will soften whatever is there but still dont understand why it is going like that when i am on a liquid diet? very weird...

i wish me and my bowel would be better at communicating then we might both know where we stood.....

a couple of home remedies... when you have a bath, pour a generous amount of table salt into the water between your legs, and swish it around the sore area... try not to over dry that part when you get out, just pat it dry with a tissue, then apply a dollop of vaseline around your bottom hole (lol - it just feels so wrong saying anus) and a little bit inside if you can bear it. if you keep on with the vaseline each time after you've been to the loo, it should help heal, protect and moisturise the whole area.

other than that, if it doesn't help, i'd go ask the advice of a pharmacist.

What worked for me is a combination of treatments: Sitz baths as many as you can endure with salt water. The Sitz bath cost $15 here in the USA. If you can install a bidet on the sit, its great to calm the area down, and lastly the lidecaine cream. Also to prevent hard stool use Miralax mixed in a drink.
