So ive got what i think is a huge problem. I am 16 years old and weighing at about 95 pounds. My ribcage is showing very clearly. I have been drinking smoothies with protein, strawberries, and almond milk every morning and every night. Ive been eating regularly. I just cant gain that weight back. I really feel bad about myself and need to put on weight. I just dont know how. If someone could give me tips and tell me if i should go see my GI doctor then that qould be great.

There are quite a few people with this problem, and some threads on it in the Diet forum: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17

How tall are you?

It would be worth seeing your doctor if there are particular problems that are causing your weight loss that need addressing, e.g. malabsorbtion. Do you think the problem is that you're not digesting properly, or that you lack appetite?

The most helpful thing would be to get your symptoms under control with the right medications, which is something to discuss with your doctors.

In the mean time, it's probably best to start with finding high calorie foods that you can digest easily. This often means low-fibre, and avoiding any foods that you know give you digestion problems.

It's good to eat several small meals or snacks a day rather than big meals which full you up too much. It can also help to have high-calorie drinks, as liquids are often less filling that solid food.
