Disability benefits

This might be a silly question, but could I get disability benefits if I have a full-time job? I am not asking for money, but more like protection in case something happens like hospitalization. I am already approved for FMLA, but I am not really sure how the Disability Act would work in my case.

You can apply for long term or short term disability insurance if your job offers it or through a private company but you are but eligible for federal or state disability as a full time employee because that is about financial compensation.

Thank you! I think I do recall seeing something about disability insurance in the benefits package, so I am going to check it out.
