I am on prednisone for my Crohn's and it makes me extra hungry. So I have gained a little bit of weight. But now my face is all puffed out like I have a whole bunch of grapes in my mouth or something. Did this happen to anyone else? And if so does is go away?

Yeee this happened to me its well annoying but it goes away when you lower the dose. Anyways barely anyone noticed it on me,, i just thought it was worse than it was >.< So just dont worry about it im sure no one will even realise :)

I got a really bad moon face too, Not something thats particularly attractive if your a teenage girl! Dont worry it does go away once you stop the steroids, with different people it takes longer or less to go away but either way it doesnt take long.
Feel free to PM me if you ever want to chat :)

I had a pretty bad moon face when I used to take it, I also started to get blotches on my face due to the steroids. It went away right after I stopped taking them.

What is the longest amount of time it takes to go away? I took prednisone starting in September of this year and was off of it completely in the end of October or beginning of November and my moon face was reeeeally bad, but it's not bad anymore. BUT, when I look at pictures from before taking it, my face is not as slim as it was before? Is it still in my system? Or what because I still don't look the same.

It might take a little bit to calm down, I think mine took a few weeks. I guess it just depends how severe it was. Try consulting your doctor if you can't find any 100% sure answers on this forum.

This is a tricky one as it does vary from person to person, I think it took me around 3-4 months after coming off them to get back to 'normal ' but I had been on a high dose for 3 months. It depends on the dose and the way your body reacts to it, some people have a terrible time with pred for others it is like a miracle drug.

Have you put on any weight at all? This could cause your face to fill out a little and that might be why it's not quite as slim as it was before.

While I was on prednisone I had huge cheeks, a raging appetite, massive gain of weight (+20) and a loss of self confidence. I promise you will get through this and your cheeks will go down! The only way to get through it is to just laugh about it tbh!
:) much love,
Amanda

ah moon face. I was on pred for awhile. It puffed me out man. I have a round face type as it stood, and at the time I'd just gotten my hair cut. picture a fat chipmunk with a bowl haircut. it was soo bad. my school ids are hilarious. one anemic kid, one chipmunk, and a regular person. once your off it the weight drops fast though. I have stretchmarks that I'm trying to get rid of. Water weight is evil.

My moon face wasn't to bad. Before prednisone, my face looked really skinny.
After I started pred, my siblings were like,"Hey, at least you don't look like a living corps!"
