does anyone ever take ibuprofen or naproxen sodium?

I haven't taken ibuprofen or naproxen sodium, since being diagnosed with Crohn's in January. I have these wicked menstrual cramps, and the acetaminophen doesn't help me at all. I was considering trying some ibuprofen, just to see what happens.

I have taken Ibuprofen a couple times after my surgery. I know they say its a big no no...but sometimes when you are in pain ya have to do what you have to do...It helped with the pain and didnt do any damage. I am sure if you take it as a very rare thing you would be ok, but everyone is different.

Most doctors don't want us to take anything but Tylenol. I have taken Ibuprofen and Alieve for really bad headaches. It hasn't bothered me. I only take it sparingly when Tylenol doesn't work. Usually only one dose is all I need.

i'm fine with ibruprofen, as long as i don't take it too often for too many days, and also cushion it with food. paracetamol is definitely easier on the stomach though.

for menstrual cramps, maybe try visiting a health shop - they have a lot of anti-cramp natural products.

Ibuprofen is generally considered unsafe for us to use because of the interactions it has with the digestive system. I would say stick to paracetamol just to be on the safe side.

thank you guys, so much! this is good advice. natural cramp remedies are something i haven't even considered, that's a good idea. i think i will try to find something at a health shop first. i might try ibuprofen, if i can't figure something else out, just to see if i can handle it or not. i'm still scared of it, but i have to get something to work, every month, these cramps just knock me out of commission.
