I have always had some joint pain here and there. In the last month my pain has really increased. My hands and feet ache, and my knees are hurting really bad. I thought my knee cap was going to pop out of place the other night, and my legs are aching alot. My lower back pain has increased and is sensitive to the touch. I was wondering if everyone else is having the same symptoms and how are you dealing with them, or maybe which kind of doctor are you seeing for it. Before being diagnosed with CD I went to a rhuematologist and he dismissed the pain as being from carpal tunnel, stress, not stretching and not working out enough. He suggested that I go to physical therapy, and see a podiatrist and a therapist. I do not mind taking the advice, but I want to make sure I am addressing the right issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

:( aw, i know what that pain feels like. hi shorty, btw.

i've had painful joints, especially knees & ankles, since being a kid, many years before my crohns diagnosis. i dont really know if anything helps particularly as i havent sought advice on that aspect, but the one thing that soothes me is heat. either a warm bath, or holding a hot water bottle between my knees, or on my back. also a painkiller called syndol is helpful when its particularly bothersome. the cold weather always makes the aches worse, so i tend to wear really long socks under my jeans in winter.

*hugs*

I know exactly how you feel. I use a heated blanket at night to help ease the discomfort. Hope you feel better soon.

I've been waking up occasionally with spasms in my right foot (along the side of it). Also, earlier this week, I woke up with a sore left wrist, and the next day, my whole left arm was sore. Then, the next day, my left wrist/arm were fine, but my right wrist was sore.

Probably a hot or cold pack would help (any ideas which?), but I don't have either at home, so I've just been trying to ignore the soreness. Ignoring them doesn't work; they just seem to come and go as they please.

I have the same soreness problem. I dont have a solution either. Right now its my shoulder still, and the back of my legs.

Try glucosamine and chondroitin. It helps lube up the joints a bit and should help you out a bit. I used to have a pop in my right hip after dislocating it playing soccer and now I don't have that click. Also, have someone take a picture of how you stand and walk, especially the feet. Your second toe should line up with your knee cap. It takes a few weeks to get used to it but you will really feal better afterwards. I went to a physical therapist for my dislocated shoulder and she gave me a full body check and that was one of my problems. God bless

Well, according to my chiro... inflamation in a joint, or anywhere fluid builds up as a result of joint aches/pains... the 1st step is to ice the area to try to reduce inflamation/fluid build up... then hot packs to ease tension or pain. The alternating (15 minutes on/15 minutes off) use of cold N hot packs is supposedly superior to just hot packs... Even manufacturers are selling it in a pre-packaged combo... Hot N Cold, Icy-hot, well, the list goes on and on.
