Good morning!

When the results of my daughter's upper endoscopy came back, it indicated that she had excess bile in her stomach. Her Dr. didn't seem too concerned and really only wanted to worry about treating the Crohn's. However, I can't help but to be worried about an excess of anything in her body. Last night she exerperienced a burning sensation in her stomach and moved up into her chest. She had never felt this before. I'm guessing it was heartburn. I have get some pepto that we had and it seemed to go away. Has anyone else had issues with this? Our next appt is Monday and I'll be sure to address it then. Thanks!

Jaems

My daughter experiences similar symptoms but I'm not exactly sure of the cause either. She will have a burning in her stomach, then stabbing pains in her chest. They last about 10-15 seconds at a time and during that time she is bent over and screaming in pain. This seems to happen for a few days at a time....then nothing for several weeks....then it comes back.

I have too much bile acid too from crohn's. I take an acid reducer(protonics) and it helps with the heartburn most of the time. But I take cholestyramine powder mixed with water to help the bile get absorbed in the intestines or my fecies burns so bad when it comes out. Even if not diarrhea. But, you have to adjust your dose because it works like a fiber and will constipate you if you use too much. I go by my body. If I get D then I use the full packet and if I am getting constipated I will skip a day or just use half a packet. Your Dr. can help you with this and there is pill form too. Children wouldn't like the powder mix. It is gritty going down. Drink plenty of fluids with this too. The barnd name is Questran lite or questran. It will help .

Jaems - what meds is your daughter on? The chest pains came up in another thread recently and it was several kids who were on Pentasa that had the same experience. For my son, the doctor said it was probably a pulled muscle (which other's parents heard similar comments), but he took prevacid and it worked. We chalked it up to gas...

Champsmom,

She's currently on Entocort EC, and Canasa (suppository). She started meds on the 7th of May. This is the first time she's had the burning feeling, however, I know that she does have acid reflux. It makes me wonder if it's (the acid reflux) is getting worse. I'll be addressing this at her appt on Monday. Thank you all for the input!

Oh, and how do I add all the information on the bottom of my post such as meds, and daughters info?

Thanks again,

Jaems

Love the avatar Jaems, my son is a big snowboarder. Hope you get some answers tomorrow. Jack had that and we added omeprozole (prilosec) and that worked really well.
