I have been asked to fast for only 1 day prior to my surgical resection this week and that seems odd to me.

I don't have to drink any solutions for the prep either. When I have had to have colonoscopy's, I had to fast 2 days and drink the horrible liquid "cleanser".

Can anyone advise of their previous experience with this? Is there any further benefit to fasting 2 days instead, prior to surgery?

Your comments appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is not unusual, but chances are they will do an enema. If you stop eating the day before there shouldnt be anything in the stomach, so they may do an enema, sorry but could happen. Yes, not fun. Let uks know how you do in the surgery ok? Is it laproscopic? On my first surgery I was in the hospital for week with only IV and antibiotics, on the second I was not eating, they put me out because of another bowel obstruction, loaded me to the gills with pain meds and something to relax me and yes, out came the enema... and that was two days prior of not eating before the surgery.

I haven't had to have any bowel surgeries, but personally I would probably eat light for a day or two, then dothe fasting hte day before as directed.....maybe with the surgery they will clean you out - and maybe want to see where things are natually?

In any case - good luck, hope all goes well!
