fibre
hi,
heard people saying with crohns u shud have a low fibre diet.
also heard that fibre is great and essential for the digestive system. i only just found this out but what we eat one day isnt necessarily what we poo the next and often the cycle is 2-4 days transit depending on how good your diet is and how high in fibre. (yep theres variations if your crohns is causing you the *****).
so im confused, is eating a high fibre diet such as cereal, cereal bars (belvita yoghurt biscuits are great as i often dont want to get up early to prepare breakfast) fruit and veg a good idea? i like to eat pealed apples, pealed pears, bananas and in the summer british strawberries, raspberries and blueberries (though im now concerned as they are very good for us but have seeds which arent recommended).
ive become a lot more conscious of my diet and trying to eat fruit and veg and less sugar and fat since being diagnosed (though i always ate fruit and veg anyway.. just liked my fat and sugar too) as learning about the digestive system has made me aware that a normal, strong and healthy system has trouble with bad choices of food, let a lone crohns infested bowels.
also heard that 100 people a day die of bowel cancer in the uk, and since ive now got a 1 in 10 chance of getting it... if fibre helps against that, i want to continue!
