Been so MIA around here. I guess that was bound to happen given that I found this forum at the end of November. It is that time of the semester for me...finals. A time when my symptoms rear their ugly little heads. It is bad enough that I'm coming up on Humira shot day, as my symptoms usually come back a smidge during the week between shots. But, right now, I can feel everything move from my ileum into my ascending colon. Ouch.

I'll be glad when it is noon on Friday. Then I'll have a few days to rest up before my colonoscopy next Thursday.

Good luck with your finals! My last one is on Friday....just have to push through and then it's relax time over Christmas...

Hope the scope and your finals go well. The forum will still be here when you have more time so drop in anytime. Keep us posted on your scope results and how you think you did on your finals. Good luck with both! :D

Thanks Crabby & Nyx ^_^ I'm taking the "keep calm and make it to winter break" mentality for Finals. Just glad I have only one test left, but, it is the only one that I really had to study for. All of my other finals were take home tests. This one won't be too much fun. Early American literature, 10 fill-in-the-blank questions and 2 essays. Oof. I've resigned myself to accepting the same grade that I had at midterms (B+) because my teacher is a tough grader and, well, I'm working with Crohn's. My other teachers have told me that a B+ in his class is like an A in every other class, but, I'll keep you guys updated :) And I'll definitely update about my scope. I"m just hoping everything is A-OK up there.

I had to take some incompletes on finals this year because I just had two surgeries :( it really sucks because I wanted to get this term over with so I could start next term but there is no way that I could physically go to school and write exams. The incomplete just means that I have 90 days to write my exams but its still dissappointing.

Good luck when writing yours!

Good luck with finals!!! You're almost done with the semester! I've found that online classes are really the best! No worries about having to get up and go to the bathroom 5x during an hour lecture.

Finals

As one who took nearly 20 years to get through my degree with Crohn's, I really can appreciate all the issues you are having to get through. It is not just the test, the pressure of all the papers, group meetings, studying for the tests, reading etc that are nearly impossible when you are doubled up in pain.

You are to be commended!

Thanks for all the wishes of luck, everyone :)

So, I have an update. I stopped in to see my GI today because I happened to be across the street registering my car and he's sending me for a CT scan on Monday morning. I'm still a relatively new patient of his and he wants to get a clear picture of what exactly is going on with me. He also thinks I'm having some kind of a flare up, but, thankfully I'm done with the semester tomorrow and can relax before next week's imaging escapades.

I know right? Argh stupid Pitt scheduling a bio final for Saturday :voodoo: I spent all day in the library, came home, and suddenly remembered I had to do my shots which hit me like a ton of bricks since my mind is seriously elsewhere these days. I very well could have completely forgot! It'll all be over soon though..so close to break. Good luck with your final tomorrow :thumleft:

Perhaps during finals you are stressed and do not pay much attention to healthy meals and regular schedule of eating? Try to reduce your stress with working out (walking, if gym not available) every day! Good luck!

Wth is up with finals on a Saturday?? I'm annoyed that my final tomorrow starts at 8:45 when the class didn't start until 9:30AM. Ugh. Thanks, tho! And good luck with your finals!!!

Stress? Check
Not eating regular, healthy meals? Check (I eat well for my dietary requirements, but, sometimes I do forget a meal until I'm super hungry. That contributes to some of the pain, because I will sometimes overeat. Yuck. Bad news.
Exercising? Half Check. I am getting exercise, but not as much as I did pre-finals time. I go for walks at least once a day, but, I was more active a week ago and it usually ends up being once a day at most at present.

Thanks for the luck!

Ahh me too. I've got two more to do. 9 am Saturday and 2 pm Monday. Then I'm done for 8 months until school the following fall :) I've been sickish the last week or so despite my Remicade infusion recently and that's all because of finals. I missed a bunch of class this year and I've got Human Physiology II coming up and I'm very nervous about that one, so many stupid little details.

Whoever has thought to have finals on Saturday mornings should be shot. I'm just saying. Dragging my tired, possibly flaring behind out of bed this morning at 6:30 was too unnatural, I couldn't imagine having to do that on a Saturday.

I managed not to miss too many classes because of my Crohn's, which is surprising to me because I had a fairly stressful semester knowing that there was a lot of drama and bad things going on at home with my family (grandfather passed away a month ago and my grandmother has not much longer left *sigh*). But I guess it all compounded once finals week hit. But, boy, am I glad it is all over. I think next semester I'm going to have a chat with the department that handles students with disabilities, to see if there is any way I can help avoid another flare at the end of the semester by not thinking I'm a super woman who can do it all even with Crohn's.

And, ooooh boy, Human physiology! You're right, lots and lots of little details. I took Human Anatomy & Physiology at my last college when I was still living in NJ and I have three giant binders filled with all of my study notes from both sessions, 1 & 2. Stupid little details, indeed!

I'm almost finished exams, just tomorrow and Monday and I'm done! Can't wait. Luckily I've only 4 exams this semester, the other two were 75% essays.

I don't stress at exams, I never have but this is the first semester I've been diagnosed with Crohn's and EVERY night before the exams I get mild pain in my side, not enough to be of a great concern but enough to make sure I can't sleep or get comfortable. I think my body is conspireing against me. Doesn't help either when I'm tired my dyselxia becomes more apparent.

I havn't registered with the disability crowd for Crohn's yet, I think it's part of a I don't really want to admit there may be a problem down the line kind of thing with me. It makes it more real somehow, more so then appointments and blood test and symptoms and such!

Good look with your final tomorrow!
