Does anybodys child take a fish oil supplement? I asked our GI, who is at CHOP about it and he said although it could help with inflammation, they do not usually recommend it due to mercury levels...he said the head of the CHOP IBD dept. does not support it's use. I was surprised by this, can't you buy it in a form where most mercury is taken out?

We use Organic Flaxseed oil. it has omega 3 6 and 9. I am pretty sure you can find fish oil that is mercury free.

I don't know that the mercury can be removed, but I think krill oil has all the same benefits but without the mercury. I could be completely wrong, but you might want to check into it...

My son has supplemented with krill oil since dx. I did research at the time and thot it was the better option over other fish oils. Mercury was one reason and I also believe it was more easily absorbed. But, sorry, it's been a while... Don't remember much more...

I too researched and settled on Krill oil and IIRC it was the following reasons: Krill oil seemed to come out as the superior product with higher concentrations of the essential ingredients and thus reduced amounts of tablets needed per day.
All that said we aren’t using fish/krill oil at pesent.

Sarah uses Flaxseed oil and Matt now takes Turmeric with Curcumin and Bromelain. Re: the Bromelain, I don’t think this is recommended for children as there are no studies available to establish its safety in this demographic.

Dusty. :)
