Has anyone developed a fistula in their scrotum? What was the treatment used to remedy this situation? Did you have surgery? Was it painfully and what was the recovery time?

Is this happening to you Scott? I would be interested to hear what your docotor has to say about this. With all fistulas it depends on how big they are, the small ones can be repaired by biologics. The bigger ones will need surgery.

Yes, just a few weeks ago, thought it might be cancer, but MRI showed a fistula. Going to make appt for rectal surgeon that my urologist recommended. I am on cipro and flagyl. Most likely surgery. I have heard that the fistula surgeries don't usually work and are very painful. Just my luck have been feeling good for a few months now. This disease just won't let up.

I know, and next year it will be something else to deal with. But that's what we do is deal with whatever our bodies decide to do that day. Have you had any surgeries before? What meds are you currently on?

Yes in my opinion way too many. Resection in 1988, another in 2008, incisional hernia repair in 2010 that did not work. In 2012 a full component seperation surgery, that still feels weird after 9 months. Was diagnosed in 1978. Just started to be a pain in 2008.

Currently taking pentasa, prednizone, entocort cipro and flagyl

Yeah 1 is too many in my opinion. So this fistula is just par for the course then. It really depends on the person but I am getting less and less pain from my ileosigmoid fistulae everyday. As long as you have a good surgeon you will do great. The only problem with fistulating Crohns disease is that if left un-treated by a biologic after surgery it has a 50-80% chance of returning because there is nothing to dry it up and scar it over after the antibiotics are done. It's something you will have to talk about with your doctor, but I will say that fistulas are 5 times more painful than Crohns pains is.

Scott I got fourniers gangrene in my testicles a year or so ago. Also very painful mate but I'm back up and mountain biking again now. Hang in there and keep your chin up mate.

man that sucks! Being female and having crohn's affect my vag I hear ya. I've always said having this disease is enough, can't it just leave our private areas alone!! Hugs for you and all the best in your journey.
