A friend who's hubby has CD takes flaxseed oil pills and swears by them. She says that they coat the intestines and help heal. I've only started taking them, but has anyone else taken them and seen any difference? Good or bad?

I take them and I dont really notice any difference. I have actually went off them starting today to see if there is.
I have heard someone else say they take them and they also swear by them..

My son has flax seed oil in his shakes - have no idea if it helps him at all.

I take flax oil capsules and just started to use hemp oil in my smoothies. Not sure if the flax helps since I've been taking it for so long, and since I just started using hemp oil I'm not sure if that helps either, but it can't hurt, and it gives your body much-needed omega 3's and 6's. Try to get fresh oils though since I've heard they can go rancid.

I take them every day, and I wasn't sure I noticed a difference. Then I ran out and didn't have any for a few days.... and flared up. So I'm now pretty sure they are supporting the other drugs and helping keep my inflammation down.

I occasionally eat flaxseed oil, it tastes delicious, but I've recently been warned it can disrupt with working of the thyroid gland. Not sure how accurate this is, but its kind of put me off using it.

I never really found it beneficial for my digestive problems, I just liked the taste of it.

If I remember correctly fish oil (Omega3) is supposed to be an anti-inflammatory. The flaxseed might work on the same principle since it also has Omega3s. (BTW, we don't need ANY extra Omega6 in our diets. Most of us get too much 6 anyway)

Personally, I use fish oil for the simple fact that flaxseed is also high in linoleic acid and that's a known pro-inflammatory.
