Hi everyone, can anyone tell me if they've ever had green poo,I've had it all day and was worried something bad is happening, also have felt very weak lately!

Statistically speaking, it's likely nothing and from what I've read, can in itself be a symptom of Crohn's Disease. If it persists or it's causing you undue anxiety, then obviously speak with your doctor about it. I would certainly speak with your doctor about your weakness as that's no fun.

There are lots of causes of green stool. These include causes that are no big deal like eating too much spinach (I used to eat it by the can and would have green turd all day) to supplements like chlorophyll, iron, and algae.

Yes, there can be more serious causes, but I wouldn't dwell on those unless the problem persists. Managing our stress and anxiety is too important when it comes to IBD to put yourself through the wringer after just one day of symptoms.

It could also be an overload of bile, if your food passes through your body very quickly, the greenish color could be from bile that's not broken down yet.

thankyou,i had a capsule endo a few months ago and they told my that my transit is very fast and i dont break down very much,i have low bile salts also ,so i think you could be right,

thankyou for the advice.

I get green poo anytime I drink grape juice. At first I was freaked, then noticed the cycle. I also have a VERY fast digestive tract and am amazed at what comes out looking too much like it did the way it goes in.

I will sometimes send a 'tracker' through to see how fast things are moving. A couple pieces of corn, couple blue berries. Just interesting to see how fast things really move in there.

C diff gave me green and very bad smell! Tell your doc and have a stool test to rule out c diff.

I have had all manner of poos in my 29 years of existence including the green poo. Sometimes it has lasted multiple days but usually goes away. Unless this is an all the time thing, I don't think it is cause for alarm.

I agree with exit4, if you keep having the green poo talk to your doctor to be tested for C.diff. Have you been on antibiotics in the last month?

hi guys, ive never heard of c ,diff, what is it,and ive been ok but if it happens again il tell my nurse, thx x

Clostridium difficile (C. difficile, c diff) colitis
is a bacterium that is related to the bacterium that cause tetanus and botulism. The C. difficile bacterium has two forms, an active, infectious form that cannot survive in the environment for prolonged periods, and a non active, "noninfectious" form, called a spore, that can survive in the environment for prolonged periods. Although spores cannot cause infection directly, when they are ingested they transform into the active, infectious form.
Antibiotic-associated (C. difficile) colitis is an infection of the colon caused by C. difficile that occurs primarily among individuals who have been using antibiotics. It is the most common infection acquired by patients while they are in the hospital. More than three million C. difficile infections occur in hospitals in the US each year. After a stay of only two days in a hospital, 10% of patients will develop infection with C. difficile. C. difficile also may be acquired outside of hospitals in the community. It is estimated that 20,000 infections with C. difficile occur in the community each year in the U.S.

have you eaten a lot of things with iron or greens such as spinach or beets?
when i had mono i only would eat beet soup and creamed spinach and my poo was green.

Hello outlier,I can't eat any thing with iron,I have iron infusions ,I only stick to the same bland foods ,I would love to munch on a massive bowl of veggies, its a cruel world lol ;)cheryl

I've had green poo too many times to count! Usually it's related to a severe flare; but I also had it with C.diff-definitely get stool tests done and keep your doctor posted.
