My doctor just called a little while ago. My CT was very bad today and he is re admitting me to the hospital first thing tomorrow morning and I may be in there for a few weeks D: I have only been out for like 2 weeks! : (

My results were worse then before and he said looks like it's getting even more worse. Along with my small abscess now there's A FEW tiny ones near it, a fistula (new, never had before) and stricture. I'll be back on intravenous feed and if antibiotics don't work after a few days...surgery. Looks like I'll be starting Remicade soon as well.

No thanksgiving, no being with my puppy, no drivers ed which means yet again delayed license, no friends which I haven't still seen anyone in 4 months. No snowboarding this season I guess.

WHY THE FUCK? I FUCKING HATE THIS

Hi Kate, Sorry to hear that you have to go back to the hospital and that you are still suffering. I hope all goes well and the antibiotics work and you dont need surgery. If they are admitting you the day before Thanksgiving then they must feel it is an emergency and you need to be there. I know it will be hard to not be home for the holiday. Try to keep you head up.. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear that Kate. Hopefully Remicade helps things! The only thing that got me by in the hospital was pain killers and my laptop.

I'm sorry everyone, I probably sound whiny. I'm sure most of you have had it a lot worse. I'm sorry.

Thanks guys. Yeah I definitely need my laptop with me. And I don't care if my mom gets in trouble, my dog will visit me, they will sneak him in cause I don't care, I want him with me cause I don't have anyone.

Well when I was hospitalized my mom brought my kittens but only outside. Its possible that you may be able to go outside of the hospital to see your dog for a little bit. You just have to wander back in from time to time to hook back up the I.V. I'd ask about it before you start getting other patients sicker (or frightening them) by bringing in an animal.

Good luck with the new meds and keep in mind that surgery isn't all bad. Things should be up and up after wards if you do in fact have surgery.

You should have no problem leaving the ward to go outside. I spent my summer in and out of the hospital, I have a friend who was never able to make it during visiting hours, so there was many a late night visit with us hanging outside of the Emergency room because that was the only to get back in when the place shuts down.

When I was in a few weeks ago they never let me leave the unit.

But I'll see. My nurses were all extremely nice and we got along great, a few of them would stay with me and talk and 2 added me on facebook, haha they're awesome. I'll make it... : ) I feel a little better right now. I was very upset earlier.

just say you're heading down to main floor to grab a coffee, ask them if they want you to pick them up one.

I got in good with my nurses, a couple days into my last stay I didn't even try to come up with a cover story, it was basically "Are you guys going to need me in the next 15 minutes or so? I'm heading out for a smoke."

LOL really, that's awesome. The one time I asked they said no because if my machine started beeping nobody would know what to do. But I know how the machines work pretty much now haha, so they might.

Kate, you're not being whiny at all.. UC is far and away the worst thing to ever happen to me.. and we all hate this goddamn disease, too! It's just as hard on the mind as it is on the body.. hang tough.

Kate,

I am sorry you have to go through this, especially during the holiday's it is the worst!

I have fistulas and now have my second perianal abscess.
I went on remicade last year and it worked wonders for me, I had no problems with my fistula or abscess.
This year after having my baby, I started to flare a little then it was controlled with the remicade, but in july of this year I moved to PA and missed my first remicade treatment (trying to find a good doc) and that threw me for a loop, so I am now getting fixed up and then back on remicade the 16th of this month.
It definitely helped me, I hope it does the same for you.

Good luck, I hope your hospital stay is not too long.

This is the place to wine.. I just spent a week in the hospital and they wanted to do TPN.. but my veins are to crappy.. so they opted out.. I just had the banana bag with vitamins.. and antibiotics and a few pain meds.. I hate taking them but I was thankful for them at night so I could sleep better.. After 7 days I was going crazy in there.. can not imagine a long term stay!

Mejay- be careful. I missed a remicade dose and then when they restarted it I went into antiflactic shock and stopped breathing.. my body made the anitbodies to the drug.. I miss remicade.. it worked for me and nothing else really has had the effects it did. :)

Thanks for the concern Coffeehouse, I only was late by one month then started back on for 2 more unsuccessful rounds, which I now know is due to an abscess that I have had since the beginning of October. But yes, Remicade has worked wonders for me too, I hope I can keep using it.

So I'm 7 days in, it has been alright :) I'm in a large room and they're working on getting me one with a view, right now it's a white wall by my window lol. Surgery is scheduled for sometime next week, I'm nervous, but about the dumbest things really. Things like the catheter, epidural if I have to do that and stupid enema if I have to do that too or if I may have to have the temporary bag I am worried sick about. Just doesn't sound like pleasant things :p The scar I'm not worried about cause Its the perfect excuse for my mom to pay for my large hip tattoo hahaha

I am really looking forward to starting the Remicade now that so many people talk about how great it is, and Jayme, I will make sure I don;t ever miss a dose. I hope you can keep using it as well :) I just hope the Rem. doesn't give me allergic problems from the start.

OH GUESS WHAT my doctor told the hospital to let me see my dog!!! I love my doctor, not just for this reason, but everything he has done for me. And how awesome he is in general, he really cares a lot about making me happy and better.

Good luck kate with the surgery and heres hoping you make a speedy recovery, John

Kate -

Good luck on your surgery. I too developed a fistula and then an infection earlier this year and reluctantly underwent surgery for a resection. Once I was recovered from the surgery I felt like a totally different guy, with no crohns I felt so much better...Now I wish I had done the surgery earlier.

So here's to as little pain as possible and a quick recovery!

John

WOW Kate, I wish you luck in the hospital and with surgery. Keep your spirits up, it will only help you feel better. I started Remicade a few weeks ago and its been amazing. I highly recommend Remicade its changing my life. Good luck!!

I hope you are doing well! Thoughts and prayers to you. I understand your pain. Get better soon! Chin up! :)

Kate,

I'm glad everything is going well in the hospital so far and that your dog can come see you, too! It sounds like you have a fab doctor and that's really half in the battle in all of these things as far as I'm concerned.

You might not hit the slopes this year, but just focus on how much this surgery will help you so you can hit them hard next!

Of course, you're a snowboarder so I shouldn't want you to hit the slopes as I'm a skier.

And skiers rule! :)

-Kathryn

I hope the remicade helps you. My fistulas closed up in 4 days and I have been feeling great ever since. Who knows, maybe you will even be good enough to go snowboarding before winter is over. (I LOVE snowboarding)

Haha Kathryn :) I want to try skiing, I have nothing against the skiiers on the mountain :)

Thank you to everyone. Yesterday I got my TB and candida injections, we have to wait 48 hours but it's been about 30 and neither are inflammed. Which this could be good or bad. The candida is supposed to be inflamed. Which means the steriods could be masking this, Which means I could have the TB, and the sterioids are masking it...but I had a chest x ray earlier as well so we'll see about that!

I'm holding up well :) been playing with play doh, coloring, and playing xbox 360 LOL definite hospital benefits for being 17 still!!!! haha I also got window paint but they moved me to the 'penthouse' of the hospital and I don't want to ruin my new amazing view! Still nervous of surgery....
