I didn't put this post in the tests thread because I didn't see too much in there (I read the whole thing).

I feel like a baby or something. Granted I did have an extremely difficult day at work today, EXTREMELY. So I went in having a panic attack and very stressed. I took .5 of xanax and started drinking 1 of 3 bottles of crap :(

By the time I finished the first bottle EXPLOSIVE D.... and kept having to run in between. My panic attack calmed and then I became freezing and my lips were purple and I was shaking life a leaf. I had to go to the bathrooom about 6 times before the test, and told the tech I felt like it had all run straight through already.

The test itself went ok, I felt better on the drive home for a few minutes. By the time I was home though I now feel like throwing up, really bad rumblies in my belly, and my stomach is VERY bloated.

In short I felt weird that I was so nervous about this test, I tend to get that way, and now I feel viciously ill, shaky, nauseated, and just every inch of me feels nasty.

Has anyone else felt this bad from this thing? Granted as I said I had a bad bad experience at work earlier so I went in stressed... combo maybe?

:'( I really don't think I could feel worse.

Most people get the runs from the contrast but usually after the test is done. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. I feel a little nauseous but I think that's more due to my chlostrophobia in the machine as opposed to the contrast. There are some who are more sensitive to the contrast.

Drink A LOT of water to flush your system. Fe better.

Sorry to hear that it made you so sick.

I haven't had one yet, but i'm worried sick because many people seem to react the same way as you. And of course, the wonderful stress and anxiety always know how to make a bad situation even worse.

Do you know what it was that you drank?

You drink barium for an MRE Thunderstorm.

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well Ckoenig. I had an MRE done this year and started having diarrhea after my first bottle of barium. It wasn't fun. As mentioned by NGNG, the contrast they inject into your IV to slow down your bowels often makes people nauseous. I'm wondering if maybe you're having a delayed reaction to it. If not then the constant diarrhea and bloating from the barium alone could be the cause.

Definitely keep drinking fluids to flush it out of your system. I didn't start feeling better until the following day.
