Just wanted to see if anyone with Crohn's has tried the LIFT procedure to help close up a fistula. I suffer from a horseshoe fistula and have had draining setons in for 3 years with no held. I've also been on Remicade and Imuran which helps but the fistula opening still won't close up. My surgeon said on the inside my tissue looks very good (no proctitis) so she wants to try the LIFT in a few months.
If you have had this procedure, did you have a diverting ostomy/ileostomy beforehand to allow the fistula to get better? My GI originally suggested this but my surgeon seemed to feel I might not need the ileostomy since she didn't think the chance of success would depend on this. Thanks for any responses.
