Hi my name is will (everyone repeats - hi will ):ghug:
I found out I have Ulcerative colitis just about 2 months ago. I have never been hospitalized due my condition and other then loose stool, I had no symptoms leading up my scope, so I was quite shocked when I found out the news. I guess my first question was can I die from this? I'm very positive I can continue to lead a healthy active life, but now I have worries where I wonder if one day this disease will damper my lifestyle.

Hi Will! I have Crohn's, so not as much knowledge on UC, but, have you done any research on it yet? You will find a wealth of info on this forum.

!

Yes this forum seems very wonderful, didn't realize there was this many people out there in the same boat as me.

It's good to have the forum, nice to chat with people who go thru the same things, have the same frustrations, etc. Much better than talking with those who have no clue.

Hello Will and welcome to the forum :) It can be daunting after a diagnosis especially if you had not had any inkling of what was going on so I am glad you have joined us as there is a lot of really helpful advice and support here, especially at the Ulcerative Colitis forum: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=69, I do think it helps a bit when you realise how many people like you there are 'out there' so you are not alone and have someone who will get it when you are having a bad day.

Since your diagnosis have you been given any meds? How are your symptoms at the moment?

Hope to hear you are doing well.

xx

Hi Will and welcome, I'm really glad that you reached and and joined our little community. And yes, there is sadly far too many people in the same boat as you.

To answer your question, Ulcerative Colitis can be a very serious condition. Of course, so can many conditions if they aren't managed well. The key is to be as proactive as possible with your disease. Educate the heck out of yourself and become an expert in this disease so you can be your own advocate. That will empower you to take control and be aware of any potential warning signs so that you can act before they become problematic. It will also insure that you're up to date on all the best treatment options, diet and more.

We're here to help you with that process and for you to lean on anytime. Let us know how we can help.

*hugs*
