Have you ever had to delay taking your TNF blocker (remicade, humira, Cimzia) because of an infection? How long did you delay? I have a sinus infection and was put on an antibiotic. My Cimzia shots were due six days into my ten day antibiotic therapy. So I asked my family doc if I should take my Cimzia on time and he said "Sure, go ahead." My GI doc said "you need to finish all your antibiotic then wait a week and at that time you can take your Cimzia shots". What has been your experience? :sign0085:

Listen to your GI. They know way more about TNF blockers than a GP. At the Remi clinic people on abx were not allowed to get their infusion.

Yup, I agree with Lydia. I would trust the GI. That's his specialty. Good luck.

I admit to getting my remicade while having a full-blown issue with some type of psoriasis and having no voice (a month after strep!)....

Also with a minor cold etc.....

If I had been totally honest with the infusion nurses, they would not have allowed my infusion - BUT - rescheduling is a pain in the butt and I didn't want to waste time off from work!

Hey Cornfieldgal prob best to listen to your GI, biologics are an immunosuppressants and you shouldn't take a chance. Most patients are ok, but I would consider the risk to great... feel better soon x

As always, if in doubt do what your consultant says, rather than a GP. I have delayed my Humira injection a day or so due to a higher than normal temperature and obvious virus, but otherwise I shrug off these things as quickly as I ever did.
