Trying to follow the doctors instructions and take fiber supplements, but its making it very difficult to get out of bed and go to work... constant bloating and pain but i'm hoping after a few days it will subside after my body gets used to the fiber, if not, doc's not gonna be too happy with me for quitting the supplements ;p

Hello Britt
Sorry you are having a rough day.
What kind of investigations have you had, and did you see a GI specialist?
Regarding the fibre supplements you are taking ---are they soluble fibre like oat bran, psyllium, prune juice etc?
You do need to take plenty of fluids with fibre.
Were you diagnosed with irritable bowel? Many people find this to be an unsatisfactory diagnosis but current thoughts are that is may be a precursor to IBD such as crohn's.
If your diagnosis is IBD then you should be under a GI specialist.
Meantime it might help to reduce the fibre to a level comfortable to you, start slowly and gradually increase to a tolerable level and drink lots of water or fluids while taking it.
It may help your day even now to do this.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

thank you for the information and yes i am seeing a gi specialist. i was never officially diagnosed with ibd however during my colonoscopy i had inflammation in the entrance to my small intestines yet my biopsy came back negative. so they told me they were going to diagnose me with ibs and give me medicine to keep my stomach from spazzing called levbid. I want to say this was 3 years ago. My newest GI doctor says i have gastroparesis, after speaking with me for 5 minutes and deciding this was it, which means my vagus nerve is damaged and keeps my stomach from spazzing, which is what i need to make the food digest. so i've been following the doctors instructions for the gastroparesis thus far by taking fiber supplements, a laxative, and a stool softener twice a day.
